What we need:

The Manager Quality is a first-level manager that leads a team of employees and oversees the planning, staffing, and day-to-day operations of the Quality function to ensure the assigned area operates in a cost-effective and efficient manner. This role manages, plans, coordinates, and directs the quality control program designed to ensure continuous production and service consistent with established standards.  

What you'll do: 

  • Evaluate quality control procedures and policies to develop and implement strategies to streamline departmental operations, improving efficiency and quality in the assigned area.  

  • Develop and implement overall quality control procedures.  

  • Monitor operations and schedules to ensure deadlines are met in accordance with established daily operational objectives to ensure high quality products are delivered to customers in a timely manner. 

  • Organize and manage the inspection area through the Quality Supervisor. 

  • Collect and analyze waste, re-work, and claims information to recommend corrective actions as it relates to quality problems to reduce company costs and maintain goals. 

  • Work with senior plant management to plan, develop, and control budgets ensuring cost-effective operations to deliver high quality products to customers.  

  • Actively participate in short-term planning meetings and projects addressing issues related to labor, material requirements, changes in productivity, performance measures, and goals. 

  • Develop and work with supervisors in all areas such as employee relations, problem solving, setting and achieving goals, budget control, manufacturing processes, scheduling, disciplinary action, terminations, equipment problems, etc. Evaluate the issue and meet with supervisors and HR to determine the most effective remediation techniques.  

  • Provide a safe work environment that meets the guidelines of the Company safety program while achieving the departmental safety goals. 

  • Assist senior plant management to plan, develop, and control budgets.  

  • Establish and enforce effective procedures for quality control, workplace safety, and equipment maintenance.  

  • Document current processes and recommend changes to senior management to meet goals for improving service, cost, and efficiencies. 

  • Proactively seek ways to apply technology to business processes, researching and providing information on technical trends and competitors' practices; stays abreast of industry trends, technology changes, and best practices, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance production technology and process flows as well as operating and tactical plans to improve efficiency and product quality as well as manage costs. 

  • Perform other duties as needed.  

What you have: 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. 

  • 6-8 years' relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.   

  • 1-3 years of management experience.

  • This employee will be responsible for direct reports.  

  • Occasional exposure to hazardous conditions caused by noise, moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and other conditions associated with a high-traffic production floor. 

  • Must be able to walk long distances and stand for long periods of time. 

  • Bending, crouching, and stooping may be required.  

  • Must be able to work in non-climate-controlled facilities.  

  • The work environment may be a noisy, high traffic manufacturing production floor.  

  • May be required to work a flexible schedule to include evening and night shifts, weekends, and holidays. 

  • The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day. 

  • The ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
