Job description

Summary

This is a leadership position directly accountable for the effective operation and performance of the manufacturing plant. The Plant Manager ensures that various functions of the operation interact cohesively to meet the overall goals of the corporation. The Plant Manager provides clear direction and leadership to their staff through goal setting and timely feedback, maintains focus on tactical and strategic plans, and ensures alignment with corporate goals and objectives. The Plant Manager interfaces with all cross‑functional groups and acts as liaison between the manufacturing plant and other disciplines. A fundamental responsibility is to ensure product safety and quality in all duties.

Major Responsibilities
  • Direct the production facility’s overall operations.
  • Provide leadership to the plant staff to ensure the various internal and external functions are operating efficiently and cohesively.
  • Set and implement policies and procedures that guide plant productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Utilize operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to achieve production goals.
  • Ensure that the plant meets or exceeds key operating goals, i.e., safety, quality, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Develop and deploy manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement.
  • Support plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures to meet OSHA, SOX, and other required regulations.
  • Collaborate with multi‑functional plant teams, including finance, engineering, purchasing, and human resources.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with key customers to ensure superior customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure timely and effective communication with upper management on key issues.
  • Proactively and regularly review all key operating metrics and respond accordingly.
  • Provide bi‑weekly business updates for upper management review.
  • Prepare month‑end business reports for upper management review.
  • Develop the annual plant budget.
  • Ensure the plant meets or exceeds budget requirements.
Education

Required: High School Diploma. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, or a related field.

Experience

Required: Minimum of 5 years plant management experience. Preferred: 5–10 years of experience managing a diverse staff in a medium to large technical plastic process operation.

Skills
