We're a well-funded startup backed by Mayfield and led by veterans who've built and scaled some of the most transformative technologies in the industry. At Lumilens, we're developing high-speed photonics products purpose-built to power the future of AI infrastructure and high-performance computing.
This isn't incremental innovation, it's a ground-floor opportunity to rethink the optical layer from the silicon up. You'll work alongside a team of world-class engineers solving some of the hardest challenges in scaling optical systems. If you're looking for mission, momentum, and the chance to make an outsized impact, jump on the rocket ship. We're just getting started.
Position Overview
The Business Management Office (BMO) within the Operations group serves as the central engine for cross-functional process governance, capability building, and operational transformation across the company's full product lifecycle. This role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution, partnering with Product Sales, Product Design and Engineering, Quality, New Product Introduction (NPI), Supply Chain, Manufacturing Operations, and Customer Service to ensure that the processes enabling these functions are designed for scale, resilience, and competitive differentiation.
The Senior Business Process Manager will take end-to-end responsibility for identifying, designing, automating, and continuously improving business processes across one or more operational domains. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role suited for an experienced practitioner who combines deep process design expertise with hands-on experience in enterprise automation platforms, analytical rigor, and the credibility to influence senior stakeholders without direct authority.
Key Responsibilities
  • Process Design and Architecture
  • Lead the design, documentation, and governance of business process maps across core operational domains including NPI gate reviews, order-to-cash, supply and demand planning, manufacturing execution, and post-sale support workflows.
  • Conduct structured process discovery sessions using interviews, observation, and data analysis to establish current-state baselines and identify root causes of waste, cycle time delay, and quality degradation.
  • Develop future-state process architectures that align with enterprise operating model goals, technology roadmaps, and scalability requirements for a hardware-software hybrid product portfolio.
  • Produce and maintain process artifacts including SIPOC diagrams, swim-lane maps, RACI matrices, control plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) at the appropriate level of fidelity for each audience.
  • Ensure process designs incorporate regulatory compliance, export control, trade compliance, and internal audit requirements as applicable to hardware and software product lines.

  • Business Process Automation
  • Define automation opportunity cases across target processes, including RPA candidates, workflow orchestration needs, API integration points, and AI-assisted decision support applications.
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture, IT, and platform owners to translate process requirements into functional and non-functional specifications for automation tooling such as ServiceNow, Salesforce, SAP, Appian, UiPath, or equivalent platforms.
  • Serve as the business-side process owner and subject matter expert throughout the design, build, test, and deploy lifecycle for automation initiatives, ensuring solutions accurately reflect the intended process logic.
  • Establish monitoring frameworks and KPI dashboards to measure automation performance, exception rates, and business value realization post-deployment.
  • Champion intelligent automation adoption and change management within impacted business units, including stakeholder communication plans, training design, and user acceptance coordination.

  • Continuous Improvement and Performance Management
  • Apply structured problem-solving methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma DMAIC, Design for Six Sigma, or equivalent) to diagnose systemic process failures and drive measurable, sustained improvement.
  • Own the performance scorecard for assigned process domains, tracking metrics such as quote to cash, on-time delivery, first-pass yield, cycle time, cost-of-poor-quality (COPQ), and customer satisfaction indices.
  • Facilitate and lead kaizen events, process improvement workshops, and cross-functional war rooms when operational disruptions require rapid corrective action.
  • Build and maintain a prioritized process improvement pipeline, balancing short-term operational fixes with longer-term strategic capability investments.
  • Conduct regular process health reviews with functional leaders and escalate systemic risks to BMO leadership with recommended mitigation strategies.

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Governance
  • Serve as the primary BMO liaison to functional leaders across Product Sales, Product Design, Quality, NPI, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Customer Service on all process-related matters.
  • Establish and manage process governance forums including steering committees, working groups, and centers of excellence, ensuring accountability for process ownership is clearly defined and maintained.
  • Develop executive-ready communications including business cases, investment proposals, program status updates, and risk briefings tailored to VP- and C-suite audiences.
  • Provide process design consulting and coaching to functional analysts and program managers throughout the organization, building broader process competency across the enterprise.

Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a closely related technical or quantitative discipline.
  • 8 or more years of progressive experience in business process management, operational excellence, or management consulting roles within a technology company or similarly complex enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead full lifecycle process improvement and automation initiatives from discovery through sustained production operation.
  • Expert-level proficiency in process modeling standards and tools (BPMN 2.0, Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, or equivalent) and the ability to communicate process designs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience working within or alongside enterprise systems including ERP (SAP, Oracle), CRM (Salesforce), ITSM (ServiceNow), PLM (Agile, Arena), and QMS (Arena) platforms.
  • Proven track record of delivering quantifiable operational outcomes: cycle time reduction, cost avoidance, yield improvement, or customer experience improvement in manufacturing or supply chain contexts.
  • Strong project and program management capabilities including the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams across organizational boundaries.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence without authority at the senior director and VP level.

Preferred qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Operations Research, Business Administration (MBA), or related field.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent demonstrated proficiency in statistical process control and structured problem solving.
  • Hands-on experience with process automation platforms such as UiPath, Blue Prism, Appian, MuleSoft, or comparable RPA and workflow orchestration tools.
  • Experience with AI/ML-augmented process applications including demand sensing, quality prediction, or intelligent document processing in an operations context.
  • Familiarity with hardware product development and NPI processes including stage-gate frameworks, BOM management, and supply chain qualification workflows.
  • Exposure to global manufacturing operations, contract manufacturing relationships, or outsourced supply chain models in the networking, semiconductor, or enterprise technology sectors.
  • Experience operating within an ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or CMMI-governed quality management environment.
