About Us
Founded in 2015 to develop the world's first industrially scalable laser metal additive manufacturing solution, VulcanForms is reshaping how the world manufactures critical products. We build and operate advanced digital infrastructure that enables innovation, accelerates growth, and supports sustainability across aerospace, defense, medical, and other essential industries. Through our vertically integrated capabilities, including scalable additive manufacturing and precision machining, we deliver true end-to-end production at scale by combining cutting-edge technology with a foundation of proven industrial craftsmanship. Our team brings deep expertise in manufacturing, materials science, software, automation, and operations, united by a shared commitment to quality, curiosity, and accountability. We foster an inclusive culture where people take ownership, solve meaningful problems, and continuously learn, because we believe diverse perspectives lead to better outcomes.
Job Purpose
The AM Equipment & Process Manager owns Vulcanforms' laser powder bed fusion platform end-to-end - from machine health and vendor relationships to process parameter development and production build management. This is a manager role at the intersection of equipment ownership, people leadership, and product development. The ideal candidate brings deep LPBF technical expertise combined with the ability to build and lead a team of operators and maintenance technicians, both internal and external. A core part of this role is driving the development of new products and materials on the LPBF platform, translating process capability into manufacturable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own and manage the LPBF equipment fleet, including maintenance scheduling, performance monitoring, and lifecycle planning
  • Directly manage a team of machine operators and maintenance technicians, including contractors and external service personnel
  • Lead process parameter development across relevant alloy systems, from initial development through qualification and production release
  • Drive new product development on the LPBF platform - collaborating with engineering and design teams to translate part requirements into qualified, production-ready processes
  • Manage production build planning and execution, coordinating with internal teams on scheduling, powder inventory, and shared equipment
  • Serve as primary point of contact for equipment and powder suppliers - managing vendor relationships, service contracts, and procurement
  • Drive continuous improvement in yield, build quality, and machine utilization
  • Document and maintain process standards, SOPs, and build record
Qualifications
  • STEM degree (Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field)
  • 5+ years of direct LPBF experience, with demonstrated expertise in process parameter development and new product introduction
  • Hands-on experience developing and qualifying parts in high-performance alloy systems
  • Prior experience managing or leading technical teams, including contractors or external vendors
  • Experience with vendor management and production operations in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong cross-functional communicator able to align engineering, operations, and external partners

VulcanForms offers a competitive salary and equity package. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, VulcanForms provides comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; generous paid time off; and a 401(k) plan with company match.
The annual base salary range for this position is $152,821.00 to $210,129.00.
