Job description

The Opportunity:Finance Analyst is a vital link between Cost/Financial Accounting and Manufacturing Operations. As part of the Finance Team, this position is the keeper of accurate labour, yield, and usage information regarding material volumes, material costs and movements. This information is used by our various teams to manage cost of product, inventory, and earned labour. This analyst also assists with financial reporting activities (e.g. budgeting, balance sheet recs, journal entries, etc.).

  • Provide timely and accurate daily and weekly cost reporting to the plant management team.
  • Provide accurate weekly / monthly forecasts for overall plant results in a timely manner
  • Work with manufacturing/engineering/finance to put in place more efficient and accurate processes
  • Participate in inventory management through posting of cycle counts, inventory dispositions, and following up on issues
  • Assist with financial reporting activities (e.g. journal entries, balance sheet recs, etc.
  • As part of the Finance team, assist managers in managing their budgets, as well as participate in period end duties where required
  • Be active and participate in Six Sigma projects and identify, recommend, and support cost improvement opportunities.
  • Play an integral role in the development of new product costing (from development to launch) and ensure current product costs accurately reflect the manufacturing process.
  • On site responsibility to ensure accounting procedures adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and approved corporate policies.
  • On site C3 custodian to ensure critical inventory and purchasing procedures are in control, and responsible for Quarterly Self-Test submissions.
  • Support Production Management and Material Control with regular inventory cycle count review and perform re-counts and random verification checking when required / applicable, posting of cycle counts, inventory dispositions, and following up on issues.
  • Perform periodic analysis of overhead spending and provide management with the information required to make future spending decisions.
  • Provide coverage for other finance team members as required
What You'll Bring:
  • Post-Secondary Education in a finance/business related program required.
  • 2+ years of progressive manufacturing costing experience in an ERP environment (SAP preferred)
  • Actively working towards a professional accounting designation program (CGA, CA, CMA)
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to coach and mentor others.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Advanced knowledge of MS office and experience with SAP
