Job description

Genex Systems is looking for a Maintenance Pipe Planner/Scheduler to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering (CMOE) contract at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA.

Responsibilities:

The Maintenance Pipe Planner/Scheduler is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating piping maintenance activities to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation on LaRC. This role develops detailed work packages, coordinates labor and materials, schedules maintenance work, and works closely with facilities and maintenance supervisors to minimize downtime while maximizing equipment reliability.

  • Plan and schedule preventive, predictive, corrective, and shutdown piping system maintenance activities.
  • Develop detailed work packages including job scope, procedures, labor requirements, tools, materials, and estimated work hours.
  • Review maintenance work requests and prioritize jobs based on safety, operational impact, and equipment criticality.
  • Coordinate with the facilities to schedule equipment outages and maintenance windows.
  • Ensure materials, replacement parts, and asset availability are available before scheduled work begins.
  • Prepare weekly and long-range maintenance schedules.
  • Monitor schedule compliance and adjust priorities as required.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) (Maximo).
  • Support center turnaround and shutdown planning activities.
  • Participate in the safety observation program (SOR), safety meetings, and pre-job planning.
  • Coordinate with procurement for purchasing piping system materials and specialty components.
  • Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Qualifications:

U.S. Citizenship required. Six (6) years of related experience in maintenance field associated with pipe/pipe fitting. Additional relevant education and/or experience may be substituted for a portion of the experience. Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and written with effective use of visual aids. Should be able to use computing technology for problem analysis and solution.

Essential Functions:

Work Environment

Office environment. (75%) Test facilities and active work site environment - loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operation. (25%) Travel between office and various facilities is required (<5%).

Physical Requirements

Limited time spent on active work sites. Must be physically capable of walking and climbing over rough terrain and working at elevated heights and confined spaces. Work sites are commonly areas of high noise levels due to facility operations. (25%) Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift to 35 lbs.

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment - PC, telephone, copier fax etc. Software - Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Microsoft Project. Safety and Personal Protective Equipment. Knowledge of IBM Maximo is beneficial.

Attendance

Regular attendance mandatory (100%)

Overtime/work outside normal schedule required (5% - 20%)

  • Employees will exercise diligence when developing a Safe Plan of Action (SPA) for each task performed. Your SPA is a Company provided tool to be used for the prevention of incidents, accidents, and injuries; as such, it is the most important tool that you are required to use.
