Role : Maintenance and Reliability Engineering Supervisor
Job Type : Full time
Job Purpose
This position will lead engineering and maintenance activities at two small plant locations to support business growth and is responsible for continuous improvement activities to achieve safety, quality, service, and cost performance expectations.
Essential duties and Success Outcomes
• Lead all hiring, training, and development of the three-person maintenance team to maximize growth, retention and productivity.
• Plan, direct and monitor preventative and corrective maintenance (i.e., repair activities) to ensure the company's buildings, facilities, machinery, and production equipment operate reliably and efficiently. Success is measured through down time rate, PM completion, food safety audit results, and team productivity measured as work orders/tech, work order closure rate, and other maintenance KPIs.
• Develop a strong working knowledge of key production equipment and gain familiarity with equipment's mechanical and electrical schematics
• Coordinate maintenance resources and activities to optimize customer fulfillment by ensuring equipment efficiency, reliability, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
• Analyze performance reports to identify opportunities and lead corresponding improvements (e.g., line efficiency, machine reliability, maintenance productivity).
• Develop, train, implement, to improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) to sustain improvement projects.
• Champion food safety programs by participating on SQF, HACCP, Safety and Process Improvement teams.
• Enhance Preventive Maintenance (PM) program to maximize production equipment reliability. Measure through mean-time-between-failure (MTBF).
• Optimize parts room inventory strategy. Measure through mean-time-to-repair (MTTR), parts room organization, and total inventory valuation.
• Oversee contracted maintenance services such as forklift maintenance, lawncare.
• Evaluate production activities for equipment upgrades and/or automation opportunities. Measure through production productivity and capital budget.
• Evaluate and enhance facility infrastructure to support business operations. Examples include electrical load, plant compressed air, ventilation. Measure through reliability and food safety audit results.
• Participation in the development and execution of Capital Investment Plans
• Interact with internal and external customers, vendors, and prospects in support of company initiatives.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
• Two-year technical education program. (Electronic/Electrical Technician preferred)
• Two to four years of maintenance experience.
• Ability to lead people and effective communication skills.
• Proven technical and analytical ability (e.g., trouble-shoot electrical, mechanical, and control systems)
