Job description

Position Summary

The Project Manager is responsible for leading assigned projects from order release through final delivery by serving as the primary liaison between Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and the customer.

This position ensures all project requirements are clearly defined, technical gaps are identified and resolved, customer expectations are managed, and project objectives are achieved safely, on time, and within scope. The Project Manager plays a critical role in coordinating communication between departments and ensuring production teams have the information necessary to successfully execute each project.

The ideal candidate possesses strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects in a custom manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project Management & Coordination

  • Manage assigned projects from order release through final customer delivery.
  • Coordinate project activities between Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality, and Service departments.
  • Conduct project kickoff meetings and facilitate ongoing project review meetings.
  • Monitor project schedules, milestones, and deliverables to ensure successful execution.
  • Identify project risks, conflicts, and gaps and drive timely resolution.
  • Ensure all stakeholders are informed of project status, changes, and critical milestones.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and customer satisfaction.

Customer Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers during project execution.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding project status, technical specifications, design intent, and equipment configuration.
  • Communicate schedule updates, engineering changes, and project developments professionally and promptly.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through proactive communication and problem resolution.
  • Manage customer expectations while protecting Coastline’s commitments regarding quality, schedule, and scope.

Technical Project Oversight

  • Review project requirements to ensure customer expectations are clearly understood and documented.
  • Identify and resolve technical gaps between customer requirements, sales proposals, engineering designs, and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Coordinate engineering changes, customer-requested modifications, and project revisions.
  • Support resolution of technical issues arising during design, fabrication, assembly, testing, and commissioning.
  • Verify that project documentation remains current and accurately reflects project requirements.
  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure designs can be effectively manufactured and tested.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Engineering to clarify technical requirements and project specifications.
  • Collaborate with Production teams to address build concerns and manufacturing challenges.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing regarding material availability and supplier-related impacts.
  • Support Quality and Service teams in addressing customer concerns and project-related issues.
  • Promote effective communication and teamwork across all departments involved in project execution.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate project records, action item logs, meeting notes, and customer communications.
  • Track project progress and provide regular updates to management.
  • Ensure project documentation, drawings, specifications, and records are properly maintained.
  • Assist in continuous improvement efforts related to project execution and customer satisfaction.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Project Management, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, engineering, manufacturing, electrical systems, mechanical systems, or a related technical field.
  • Experience coordinating projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working directly with customers on technical projects.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, controls, and industrial equipment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, control drawings, mechanical drawings, bills of material, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to identify technical gaps and coordinate solutions between customers, engineering, sales, and production teams.

  • Experience with power generation equipment, generators, switchgear, electrical controls, power distribution systems, or industrial equipment manufacturing.
  • Experience working in a custom-engineered, build-to-order manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting factory acceptance testing (FAT), commissioning, startup, or field service activities.
  • Knowledge of fabrication, welding, electrical assembly, and industrial manufacturing processes.
