The Assistant Project Manager (APM) role serves as the primary entry point into project management at ABI Companies, Inc. This position is designed to develop future Project Managers by providing hands-on experience across all aspects of the construction lifecycle.
Under the guidance of Project Managers and Senior Project Managers, the APM will gain exposure to estimating, budgeting, contract administration, client relations, and overall project execution. The APM will assist in managing the client, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams while learning how to successfully deliver projects from preconstruction through closeout.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Includes, but is not limited to, learning and supporting the following):
- Utilize ABI-standard takeoff software to assist in accurate project takeoffs
- Support the development of estimates, qualifications, alternates, and bid leveling
- Assist in preparing conceptual budgets based on limited design information
- Participate in all preconstruction phases, including planning, zoning, site selection, and permitting
- Support client, consultant, and stakeholder coordination
- Assist Project Superintendents and subcontractors with project needs
- Support the development and administration of prime contracts
- Assist in preparing and managing subcontracts and purchase orders
- Communicate effectively with subcontractors and vendors
- Assist in developing and tracking project budgets
- Support the creation and maintenance of project schedules
- Assist with subcontractor coordination and negotiations
- Support the preparation and administration of submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs)
- Maintain and organize project documentation
- Assist in preparing weekly client reports
- Support the processing and tracking of change orders
- Assist in preparing owner payment applications
- Review subcontractor qualifications as directed
- Assist in scheduling, coordinating, and documenting project meetings
- Support project closeout activities
- Assist in reviewing and processing project invoices
- Conduct site visits as needed
- Assist in developing lookahead schedules
- Interface with clients, architects, and consultants as directed
- Support permitting and inspection processes
- Assist in managing the full project lifecycle
- Perform additional duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (Must meet at least one of the following):
- Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a commercial construction Project Superintendent
- Experience as an Assistant Project Manager with a commercial general contractor
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Basic scheduling experience using Microsoft Project

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Light to strenuous physical activity performing daily activities of an administrative nature to include:
• Sitting, standing, and/or walking for extended periods of time.
• Working in a well-lighted, heated, and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
• Working in an outdoor environment in all types of weather conditions, including, but not limited to sun, rain, wind, heat, cold, etc.
• Using manual dexterity sufficient to handle and reach items and work with hands and fingers.
• Using close, distant, and peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
TRAVEL DEMANDS:
• Local travel required.
• Must have reliable transportation and ability to travel locally to office and project job sites.
