Job description

The Chemical Operator will be producing chemical using different technologies employed at the Mobile plant. Trouble shooting to correct problems within their work area is critical. The jobholder will use predefined processes and follow procedures to produce quality products.  The operator works as part of a team that requires good communication skills and the ability to work well with others to solve problems and reduce production time safely. All job functions must be conducted using all safety and environmental procedures and systems.  Accurate reporting and manual data entries is critical.   This is a shift position with night and weekend work required.  The job is located in a chemical plant with all the inherent safety and environmental risks required.  Activities may include:

  • Safely perform all required field duties to ensure proper production:
    • Follow recipes, processes, procedures to effectively and efficiently produce product.
    • Pulls samples for testing in QC lab and makes decisions on test results.
    • Understand and may use DCS to control production process
    • Correctly control various types of equipment and troubleshoot problems within the work area
    • Walk the line when required to prevent spills
    • Move materials using fork truck or other
    • Package and label finished or intermediate goods accurately as required
    • Complete cleaning procedures as directed
    • Complete all reporting accurately
    • Complete all paperwork accurately and timely
  • HESQ Responsibilities
    • Comply with HSEQ policy and all legal and internal requirements
    • Comply with all standard procedures and work instructions and policies
    • Review work area for potential losses and report hazards to supervisor
    • Roport  incidents, accidents and near misses to supervisor
    • Participate in safety events and programs as offered
    •  Identify and communicate potential gains or possible improvements
    • Understand and execute Emergency Response procedures to mitigate unplanned events

The successful candidate will have:

  • A high School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of work experience, preferable in a manufacturing environment
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Microsoft; manufacturing applications a plus
  • Self motivation and ability to perform multiple tasks at once with minimum supervision
  • Team player skills
  • Troubleshooting
  • Ability to accurately report information both manually and using the computer
  •  Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
