Job description

Mill Operator Trainee
Ameristar Perimeter Security USA, an ASSA ABLOY branded company, is looking for a Mill Operator Trainee. This position will be responsible for the roll form operations and equipment of the mill to insure continuous operation during the shift. This will be a 1st shift position, Monday - Thursday 5:00am to 3:30pm.
What you will be doing:
Safety, quality, priorities above all
Focus on the keeping the mill operational
Maintain clean, safe, organized work area, 5S
Cross Training of team members on parts programming and mill set ups
TPM of process and equipment in the area
Coordinate daily and weekly activities with department supervisor
Perform visual and manual quality checks of finished products.
Minimize scrap
Work with maintenance hands on to get issues resolved in a timely manner.
The skills and experience you need:
High school or equivalent
Experience in using special measuring devices, callipers, tape measure.
Work with experienced operators on equipment safety and operation.
Attention to detail.
Ability to retain information that is being taught and shown to new operator.
Demonstrate ability to meet negotiated time frames
Good Mechanical Aptitude
Must be able to document down time through seamless reporting system to drive KPI tracking
Good communication skills with coworkers to insure continuous flow of the mill and material handler for proper tagging of product.
Ability to think and react to schedule changes and conditions on the mill.
Ability to be a contributing and valued team member for continuous improvement activities.
