Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a CNC Machinist (Rotor Cell Team Operator Trainee) - 2nd Shift at our Elyria, OH location. Hours are Monday-Friday 3:00pm -11:30pm. Job Summary: In this position, you will learn to adequately perform the duties and responsibilities of the Rotor Cell team certified operator occupation. Essential Functions:
  • Process rotors through various machining, EDM, and supporting operations in a team-oriented cell.
  • Responsible for maintaining cell inventory.
  • Set up and operate numerically controlled machines and other equipment.
  • Make and verify any necessary corrections to program, set up, tooling and machine settings with the assistance of the Supervisor and/or Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Use various gauges when required.
  • Provide a finish in accordance with the manufacturing outline and blueprint requirements including but not limited to removal of burrs and edge breaks.
  • Saw material as necessary.
  • Clean and move parts as necessary.
  • Pass an annual eye exam.
  • Responsible for product verification and process control including using necessary measuring devices.
  • Keep charts and records as required on completed sequences and processes.
  • Rotate to different workstations within the cell
  • Perform required rework, secondary operations, routine maintenance per Appendix A, and appropriate safety checks in the cell.
  • Document all non-conformances through specified data collection procedures.
  • Inspect work and verify that product meets all appropriate standards at each operational step in the cell.
  • Complete all required paperwork.
  • Ensure all material is properly cleaned, identified, protected, and stacked prior to movement.
  • Work with internal and external customers and suppliers and participate in continuous improvement activities as required.
  • Complete all required documentation including but not limited to operator inspection records, job routers, NCR's, reject tags, move tickets, and stock tickets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by department supervisor
  • Utilize computer to access various databases.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience: Wire EDM or CNC Grinder experience required.
  • Knowledge:
    • Must have basic reading and writing skills
    • Requires basic math skills to make necessary calculations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and trigonometry.
  • Skills:
    • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, detail sheets, manufacturing outlines, and written instructions
    • Must be able to develop programs from manufacturing outlines
    • Requires a working knowledge of fixtures, cutting tools, and selecting and dressing wheels for finish requirements.
  • Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Work Environment:
  • Requires prolonged periods of standing, bending, lifting, and stretching
  • Requires lifting parts, fixtures, and containers, and wire spools weighing up to 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet, grinding wheels up to 40 pounds to a height of 3 feet
  • Requires the use of assorted burring tools and the ability grasp and hold tools in awkward positions for prolonged periods of time
