Overview

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, at Spirit’s Defense Business Unit (“Spirit Defense”). Spirit Defense is an independent supplier to the defense and space marketplace. Through innovative engineering and rapid prototyping excellence, Spirit Defense provides the capabilities, technologies and support customers need to succeed in their missions.


Responsibilities

This is a 2nd shift position 

Position Responsibilities:

Supports and directs various job families to expedite fabrication of details and assemblies. Applies process management and improvement techniques. Uses problem-solving skills and analytical abilities to develop innovative and expedient solutions to fabrication problems.  Facilitates work teams, provides training and interfaces with internal organizations and external customers with regard to project planning, problem resolution, and process improvement.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): 

Must be able to work 2nd, and or alternative work week and weekend shifts

  • This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
  • 3-5 yrs of experience in Aerospace,  CNC machine Fabrication/Processing, Multi Axis Machining.
  • 3-5 years of experience and working knowledge of Hard Metallic Finishing such as Titanium and working exposure to the Machines that are used in the process.
  • 3- 5yrs of experience managing/supervising a team of 25 or more employees
  • 3-5yrs in a leadership/management experience (industry or military) 
  • 3-5 yrs of experience in manufacturing environment 
  • Experience utilizing production metrics to make informed decisions and drive results
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Prior experience working with multiple cross functional groups (Quality, Assembly, Procurement, Supply Chain, etc.)
  • Prior management level experience reporting out to Senior Leadership on department production status

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Associates or Bachelor Degree
  • 5+yrs of experience in a leadership role
  • 5+yrs of experience in Aerospace, Automotive, Industrial Manufacturing, Titanium  Metallic Finishing/Processing, Assembly or Machining
  • 5+yrs Experience in a manufacturing production atmosphere
  • 5+yrs Experience machining 
  • Experience working in a union environment
  • Prior SAP experience
  • Prior Military experience (management or leadership)
  • Prior experience working with Lean principles
  • NC programming experience
