Process Engineering Manager (with Maintenance Oversight)

Location: Woburn, Massachusetts

Eaton is a global leader in intelligent power management, serving customers in more than 160 countries. Following our recent acquisition of Boyd Corporation's aerospace and defense business, we are expanding our capabilities in high-performance thermal management solutions. The Woburn facility specializes in the design and manufacturing of Aluminum Vacuum Brazed Heat Exchangers and Cold Plates for critical aerospace and defense applications. We are seeking a dynamic Process Engineering Manager to lead process engineering and maintenance teams, driving operational excellence, innovation, and reliability in this key location.

Position Summary

The Process Engineering Manager will lead the optimization of manufacturing processes for high-precision aluminum vacuum brazed heat exchangers and cold plates while overseeing the Maintenance department. This role is critical in ensuring efficient, scalable, and high-quality production that meets stringent aerospace and defense standards. The ideal candidate will champion continuous improvement, equipment reliability, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, optimization, and standardization of manufacturing processes for Aluminum Vacuum Brazed Heat Exchangers and Cold Plates.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for efficiency gains, cost reduction, yield improvement, and enhanced product quality.
  • Partner with design engineering, program management, and production teams to ensure seamless integration of new products into manufacturing.
  • Develop robust, scalable processes that support rapid NPI while maintaining quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with the Quality team to ensure all processes comply with aerospace/defense industry standards (e.g., AS9100) and customer requirements.
  • Establish and monitor process controls, statistical process control (SPC), and root cause analysis to drive product reliability.
  • Directly manage the Maintenance department, including planning, scheduling, and execution of preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Track and improve equipment uptime and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) using FIXX software and other reliability tools.
  • Foster a culture of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and data-driven decision making.
  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and lead projects to eliminate waste, reduce downtime, and improve throughput.
  • Work closely with Design Engineering, Production, Quality, and Safety teams to align product designs with manufacturing capabilities.
  • Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support for production issues.
  • Mentor and develop the Process Engineering team, building technical depth and leadership capabilities.
  • Design and deliver training programs for manufacturing personnel on new processes, equipment, and best practices.
  • Ensure all manufacturing and maintenance activities comply with safety regulations (OSHA, etc.) and Eaton's global EHS standards.
  • Partner with the Health & Safety team to promote a zero-incident workplace culture.
Qualifications

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in process engineering within aerospace, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing environments.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in CNC programming
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in Brazing and assembly in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing teams, including direct oversight of maintenance functions.
  • Experience in aluminum vacuum brazing, machining, and thermal management product manufacturing.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six Sigma (Black Belt preferred) and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Deep knowledge of process optimization, equipment reliability, and factory management systems.
  • Experience with CMMS software (FIXX preferred).
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality standards (AS9100, ITAR, etc.).
