Job description

Chicago area steel service center seeking an experienced and dynamic Business Process Manager to drive operational efficiency across our organization. The first assignment for this permanent position will be leading the implementation of a new ERP system. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding critical thinking, organizational and communication skills, with a proven track record in areas such as operations, technology and manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the transition from the current platform to the new ERP, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Collaborate with production and administrative managers to develop, prioritize and manage future projects to improve operational efficiency throughout organization.
  • Provide post-implementation user support to employees at multiple company locations, including training, troubleshooting, and documenting best practices.
  • Coordinate with external consultants and technology providers to manage ERP version upgrades, test new features and configure changes.
  • Analyze and streamline existing procedures to align with best practices and optimize ERP benefits.
  • Prepare regular status reports outlining project progress and critical decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, operations management, information technology or related field
  • Minimum 7 years’ business experience including at least 3 years in operations, manufacturing or information technology
  • In-depth knowledge of ERP systems and business software applications.
  • Proven leadership and project management skills with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
  • Naturally curious, with the ability to understand and challenge existing processes.  Ability to obtain buy-in on proposed improvements.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, able to convey complex information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing including plant processes and quality management systems such as ISO 9001, is a plus.
  • Ability to travel locally between company locations as needed.
