Position Summary

The Mechanical Engineering Director is responsible for planning, organize and direct the Mechanical Engineering department to meet company objectives for design, new product development and improvement of existing product lines by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. Major responsibilities include directing all mechanical engineering activities such as project execution, contract review, design management and product development for all SEGI’s product line.

Key Responsibilities


Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and support the Mechanical Engineering team in delivering high-quality engineering solutions for complex energy infrastructure projects.
  • Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement aligned with Stellar Energy Global Infrastructure’s performance-driven approach.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support the professional growth of team members.
Engineering Design & Technical Oversight
  • Oversee the design and development of mechanical systems for turnkey energy infrastructure solutions, including turbine inlet air chilling, thermal energy storage, district cooling, modular utility plants, and related applications.
  • Ensure mechanical designs support reliable performance, operational efficiency, capacity improvement, emissions reduction, safe operation, and long-term maintainability of customer assets.
  • Develop, maintain, review, and approve mechanical design documents, including process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, equipment layouts, piping plans, piping isometrics, equipment specifications, datasheets, calculations, and related technical deliverables.
  • Provide technical oversight for mechanical equipment and systems, including chillers, heat exchangers, pumps, cooling towers, tanks, pressure vessels, piping systems, valves, structural supports, and packaged mechanical equipment.
  • Ensure deliverables are accurate, complete, constructible, and aligned with applicable codes, standards, customer requirements, and project specifications.

Project Execution & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with project management, process engineering, electrical engineering, controls engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, service, and other internal teams to support seamless turnkey project execution.
  • Manage engineering schedules, budgets, resources, and priorities to support on-time delivery and disciplined project performance.
  • Participate in customer, supplier, partner, and project meetings to provide technical leadership, resolve mechanical design and equipment issues, and support successful execution from concept through commissioning and delivery.
  • Support equipment selection, supplier evaluations, technical bid reviews, factory acceptance testing, installation activities, system startup, and troubleshooting.

Process Improvement & Industry Awareness

  • Stay current with industry trends, standards, codes, and best practices related to mechanical engineering, thermal systems, piping design, rotating equipment, pressure-containing equipment, modular systems, and critical utility applications.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that strengthen engineering quality, design consistency, execution efficiency, scalability, and repeatability across projects.
  • Develop and maintain mechanical engineering standards, specifications, calculation tools, design guides, and standard project deliverables.
  • Support innovation that helps customers improve capacity, reliability, efficiency, sustainability, maintainability, and lifecycle value of their infrastructure assets

QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited University.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in power generation or cooling system design or similar project work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Engineering Management and Leadership
  • Familiar with ASME B31, NEC, ASHRAE, AHRI, CTI, HI, and various building codes.
  • Familiar with selection and technical requirement of general mechanical equipment including chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, etc.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in engineering or business from an accredited University
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD software and AutoCAD preferred.
