Job Description: The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer Manager oversees the development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes to improve quality and throughput in a cost-effective manner. Ensures the manufacturing engineering team and other manufacturing departments work together cohesively across two facilities. They are responsible for production support and systems to aid in the manufacturing process and shift bottlenecks. Reviews, evaluates and implements process changes and leads continuous improvement initiatives. The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer Manager manages a team of engineers and technical professionals in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met as well as supporting strategic goals. Reports to the VP of Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Led a team of industrial, mechanical, chemical, and CAD engineers to design, implement, and continuously improve the manufacturing process to ensure products and processes meet customer needs.
  • Lead with a lean manufacturing system approach while improving lean culture on the manufacturing floor.
  • Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
  • Manages capacity models focused on standard work methods to adequately plan for equipment, floor space, and headcount
  • Supports production departments and prioritizes projects based on business needs
  • Supports other business functions with production-related information (Capacity models, labor BOM, ROI, COPQ...)
  • Represent manufacturing engineering on cross-functional teams
  • Work with the product design and development team to ensure a smooth integration of new products and components into manufacturing with a DFMA focus.
  • Manages a lean flow-oriented layout and value stream design of 2 facilities to ensure process capability meets sales demand.
  • Work with HR on all employment-related issues, including hiring, training, appraising, counseling, and reprimands, in a competent manner.
  • Mentoring, challenging, and developing team to improve their capability and engagement and to help them achieve their career development goals
  • Perform one-on-one meetings with direct reports and with production managers.
  • Coach and support employees for high and timely performance
  • Support all safety initiatives and maintain a high awareness of safety in the facility

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work in a non-climate controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature occasionally.
  • Must be able to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds when necessary.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position.
