Job description

Engineering Manager
An established manufacturing organization is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead engineering operations across multiple facilities. This position will oversee a team of engineers and technical professionals while driving process improvements, supporting production, improving product quality, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing engineering teams within a fabrication, machining, or industrial manufacturing environment and possess a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, engineering documentation, and project execution.
Responsibilities
- Engineering Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and technical staff.
- Establish departmental goals, priorities, and performance expectations.
- Allocate engineering resources to support production and customer requirements.
- Promote a culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Engineering & Project Management
- Manage engineering projects from planning through implementation.
- Review and approve technical drawings, bills of materials, routings, and work instructions.
- Oversee engineering change processes and document control activities.
- Support troubleshooting efforts, root cause investigations, and corrective actions.
Process Improvement
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Drive initiatives focused on reducing costs, minimizing scrap, and improving process consistency.
- Evaluate new equipment, automation solutions, and manufacturing technologies.
- Standardize engineering practices and procedures across locations.
Cross-Functional Support
- Partner with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Purchasing, and Scheduling teams.
- Assist with manufacturability reviews and technical support during the quoting process.
- Participate in customer meetings and provide engineering expertise as needed.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure engineering activities comply with company, customer, and industry standards.
- Support internal and external audits through accurate documentation and process control.
- Champion safe work practices throughout engineering and manufacturing operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing engineers or technical teams.
- Experience supporting fabrication, welding, machining, or custom manufacturing operations.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, BOMs, and manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated success leading engineering projects and process improvement initiatives.
Preferences
- Lean Six Sigma certification.
- PMP certification.
- Experience supporting multiple manufacturing facilities.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Epicor, SAP, or JobBOSS.
- Background in custom fabrication, industrial manufacturing, or engineered-to-order environments.
- Experience implementing automation or advanced manufacturing technologies.
