We are a small, locally owned and operated company, with a global customer base and a global impact on data security.


The Mechanical Engineer position is responsible for the design of mechanical and electromechanical subsystems and products. Through innovation, efficiency and principled design practices, this position works as a member of the engineering team to fulfill market driven needs.


Essential Functions


· Work with engineering team, vendors and internal customers to develop mechanical and electromechanical products for industrial and commercial applications

· Conduct research and analyze data and specifications to evaluate the feasibility, design, operation, performance, cost and requirements of new product designs

· Prepare, review and revise documents related to product designs, revisions and production procedures

· Assure product quality by developing inspection and test protocols

· Maintain product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations

· Identify and follow workplace and product safety requirements and procedures

· Provide information and support to the Manufacturing, Sales, and Service teams

· Other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager


Competencies


· Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and cost/benefits analysis to maximize the effective manufacture of products.

· Knowledge of 3D printing design criteria and limitations

· Basic electrical/electronic/magnetic knowledge

· Experience with 3D modeling software to design, assembly, and modify product designs

· Experience with mechanical system design and analysis involving motion and mechanisms, media handling, sensor technologies, and automation

· Basic skills with machine tool operation and assembly skills with hand tools

· Experience using Microsoft Office Applications for managing and documenting projects

· Ability to use/learn Manufacturing Resources Planning for item definition and bill of material entry

· Ability to read and interpret data sheets to match best available parts to new product requirements

· Outstanding written and oral communication skills

· Must be a team player, self-motivated, dependable and dedicated

· Ability to manage one’s own time and the time of others

· Ability to use “critical thinking” in solving problems

· Ability to use active listening when communicating with others


Work Environment


This job operates in a professional office environment, a manufacturing floor, and an engineering lab.


Physical Demands


While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to walk or stand. The employee is occasionally required to bend, twist or reach as well as lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision preferred and the ability to adjust focus between multiple tasks.

· Experience with Autodesk Inventor

· Experience with 3D printing and specifically Bambu Labs printers
