About the Opportunity (Confidential Client)

We are partnering with a growing, high-technology manufacturing organization seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead plant-level engineering operations.

This is a critical leadership role responsible for building and driving engineering excellence in a high precision, continuous process manufacturing environment, supporting both current operations and future growth initiatives.

Role Overview

The Engineering Manager will lead a multidisciplinary team across Process, Controls, Reliability, Facilities, and Maintenance Engineering, ensuring safe, efficient, and scalable production capabilities.

This role is highly visible and requires a hands-on leader who can drive change, influence teams, and execute continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team across multiple disciplines
  • Drive process optimization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead capital planning and CAPEX project execution
  • Improve manufacturing performance through Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies
  • Ensure equipment reliability, uptime, and preventive/predictive maintenance execution
  • Oversee troubleshooting and root cause analysis for quality, productivity, and safety issues
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and ensure manufacturability at scale
  • Define engineering standards, equipment specifications, and vendor performance expectations
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Finance, and Corporate Engineering
  • Provide data-driven updates on engineering performance, project status, and KPIs
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (advanced degree preferred)
  • 10+ years of engineering experience within high precision, continuous process manufacturing
  • Proven leadership managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams
  • Strong experience with CAPEX projects and plant-level engineering execution
  • Demonstrated success in continuous improvement, Lean, and Six Sigma environments
  • Strong communication skills with ability to influence engineers, operators, and leadership
  • Expertise in root cause analysis, statistical problem solving, and process optimization
Preferred Industry Background

Experience in one or more of the following is highly desired:

  • Battery manufacturing
  • Polymer processing / extrusion
  • Coating / specialty films
  • Advanced materials / continuous process manufacturing
  • Location: Johnson City, TN area (onsite)
  • Relocation assistance provided
