Process Engineer

Location: Haverhill, Ohio – ALTIVIA Petrochemicals

Job Summary

The Process Engineer provides day-to-day process engineering support for plant operations and is responsible for monitoring process performance, optimizing operating conditions, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. This position works closely with operations, maintenance, project engineering, and plant leadership to improve reliability, efficiency, product quality, and overall plant performance. The Process Engineer plays a key role in troubleshooting operational challenges, supporting capital projects, and implementing process improvements across the facility.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide daily process engineering support to operating units and production teams.
  • Monitor key process parameters and operating conditions to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation.
  • Analyze process data and operating trends to identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction.
  • Work closely with operators and operating teams to improve process performance and operating effectiveness.
  • Troubleshoot process deficiencies, operating issues, and production challenges and develop corrective actions.
  • Collect, review, and evaluate process performance indicators, including raw material yields, energy consumption, product quality, throughput, and capacity utilization.
  • Develop recommendations to optimize operating conditions and improve plant performance.
  • Provide technical support during plant startups, shutdowns, turnarounds, and major maintenance outages.
  • Lead or support process studies, feasibility evaluations, and engineering analyses for operational improvements.
  • Participate in the development, design, and execution of capital projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with project engineering, maintenance, operations, and procurement personnel to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Assist in developing Authorizations for Expenditure (AFEs) for process improvement, maintenance, and capital projects.
  • Support Management of Change (MOC), Process Safety Management (PSM), and other plant reliability initiatives as required.
  • Develop process documentation, engineering reports, operating procedures, and technical recommendations.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, quality, environmental performance, production efficiency, and reliability.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements amp; Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
  • Strong understanding of chemical manufacturing processes and process engineering principles.
  • Ability to analyze process data and develop practical solutions to operational challenges.
  • Experience troubleshooting process equipment and production systems in an industrial environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of process optimization, process control, and plant performance improvement techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively with operations, maintenance, engineering, and management personnel.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Management of Change (MOC) processes preferred.
