Position Summary
This Plant Layout Engineer/ Specialistย leads the integration of industrial equipment layouts and multi-disciplinary engineering drawings for large-scale food processing projects. The position combines mechanical engineering knowledge, CAD coordination, and 3D layout integration.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the integration and coordination of large industrial equipment and plant layouts for food processing projects.
  • Plan, develop, maintain, innovate, and manage integrated layout drawings, CAD standards, file structures, layer properties, plotting standards, and design versions in FPS Autodesk Vault application.
  • Coordinate and integrate drawings from multiple internal engineering teams, vendors, customers, consultants, and external equipment suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain AutoCAD Xref structure, file organization methods, layer standards, title block standards, plotting setup, and layout integration workflows.
  • Support Project Engineers and Engineering Managers during layout reviews, customer discussions, equipment coordination, and project execution.
  • Review overall equipment arrangement, access spacing, maintenance clearance, utility coordination, and installation interfaces between different systems.
  • Support the development and implementation of 3D layout integration and coordination workflows using Navisworks and other 3D modelling platforms.
  • Provide technical guidance and CAD integration standards to designers and external drafting resources.
  • Work in compliance with all FPS administrative, health & safety policies and procedures.
  • Overseas travel to customer project sites may be required.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualification

  • Post-secondary, bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Drafting Technology, or related field.
  • Strong AutoCAD experience with advanced knowledge in Xref management, CAD standards, layer management, plotting setup, and large drawing package coordination.
  • Minimum 5+ years working experience on industrial plant layout integration, construction coordination, or multi-discipline CAD integration projects.
  • Experience with Navisworks, 3D coordination, clash review, and model integration preferred.
  • Mechanical equipment knowledge is considered an asset but detailed mechanical equipment design experience is not mandatory.
  • Work independent and self-motivated. Willingness to meet quick deadlines and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills in working with internal teams, vendors, customers, and external engineering groups.
  • Ability to multitask several projects at once, under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Professional Requirement

  • P.Eng.ย designation is preferred; however, candidates with equivalent industrial layout engineering experience will also be considered.
  • Candidates holding a P.Eng. designation will be appointed as Plant Layout Engineers, while candidates without a P.Eng. designation will be appointed as Plant Layout Specialists, based on their qualifications and experience.
