Summary:
The Engineer IV - AWS Cloud Engineer is a senior technical contributor responsible for the design, implementation, automation, and support of enterprise cloud infrastructure and services within Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role provides technical leadership for complex cloud initiatives, develops scalable and secure architectures, and drives operational excellence through infrastructure automation, monitoring, and continuous improvement. The Engineer IV collaborates across engineering, security, operations, and application teams to deliver reliable, high-performing cloud solutions that align with business and technology objectives.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, deploy, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure and platform services.
  • Lead the implementation of highly available, scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, deployment, and operational processes.
  • Engineer and support cloud networking solutions, including VPCs, routing, load balancing, VPNs, and hybrid-cloud connectivity.
  • Implement and maintain security controls aligned with organizational and regulatory requirements, including IAM, encryption, logging, and monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure, application, and cloud service issues across production and non-production environments.
  • Evaluate emerging AWS technologies and recommend improvements to architecture, performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead cloud modernization and migration initiatives, providing technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams.
  • Partner with application developers, security teams, and stakeholders to define technical requirements and solution designs.
  • Develop standards, best practices, and operational procedures for cloud engineering and platform management.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, and incident response activities.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of infrastructure, systems, or cloud engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and operating AWS environments.
  • Strong expertise with AWS services including EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, ECS/EKS, Lambda, Route 53, CloudWatch, IAM, and Systems Manager.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows server administration.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud-native technologies.
  • Working knowledge of networking, security, authentication, and enterprise infrastructure concepts.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Advanced Networking, or AWS DevOps certifications.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, container platforms, and microservices architectures.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise cloud environments.
  • Experience with monitoring, observability, and performance optimization tools.

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by several factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. Some roles at Mapfre are eligible for commission and/or bonus earnings, in addition to salary, calculated based upon factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Salary Range: $145,000 - $185,000
