POSITION SUMMARY
This position can be located in the Denver, Kansas City, or Dallas markets.
The Maintenance and Support System Process Engineer is responsible for working with sites within AMP's network to apply best practices to our Maintenance and Support Systems. This includes auditing, training, development of action plans, and supporting those plans through project management and facilitation. A primary component of this role involves the exercise of independent judgement and discretion related to AMP Maintenance and Support Systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties as assigned)
• Must be trained and familiar with general safety.
• Communicates any technical/process changes to appropriate facility personnel and provides training to production and maintenance personnel.
• Works closely with Plant or Regional personnel to share knowledge related to best practices in Maintenance and Support System operation and design.
• Applies relevant methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes. Support the plants toward best practices with Maintenance and Support Systems.
• Supports projects related to Lean Manufacturing, 5S methodologies, and Continuous Improvement with a focus on reduction of maintenance spend, improved utility efficiency, and uptime.
• Conducts, communicates, and/or assists with root cause analyses and recommends corrective action where appropriate.
• Conducts system capability studies and gap audits; assists operations in implementation of improvements to close identified process gaps.
• Supports manufacturing plants with optimization of Computerized Maintenance Manage Systems (CMMS).
• Develops and improves processes to prevent support system and equipment errors prior to the manufacture of product.
• Ability to lead and work closely with project team members.
• Maintain the ability to drive for business purposes, including annual satisfactory DMV report, proof of insurance, valid driver license, and signature of statement related to notification to company of any changes related to driver record and insurance coverage.
• Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance is required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Proven track record in process improvement and cost reductions.
• Experience with Maintenance and Support systems related to the production of Expandable Polystyrene/EPS, required.
• Intermediate understanding of Lean Manufacturing, 5S methodologies, and Continuous Improvement preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required. Equivalent can be fulfilled with an adjacent degree such as Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, providing there is on the job experience with thermodynamic process operations, boiler and steam systems, and/or blowing agent abatement systems.
• 10+ years' experience in Process Manufacturing preferred.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, drawings, and manufacturing processes.
• Able to analyze costs, benefits, risk and success of a decision.
• Generates new ideas and strategies and provides innovative solutions to problems.
• Ability to build and maintain a strong working relationship with vendors, customers, and production team members.
• Ability to facilitate process improvement sessions with plant colleagues and provide influence toward actions.
• Ability to direct and mentor seasonal college engineering interns.
• Must be fluent in the English language, both written and spoken.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Moderate physical effort may be required including sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, climbing steps or ladders, grasping, fine and course manipulation, reaching both forward and above head level, and tolerant of temperature changes for the entire shift.
• Must be able to push, pull and/or lift up to 50 pounds; and safely operate machinery, as needed.
