Job description

ASR Group is the world's largest refiner and marketer of cane sugar, with an annual production capacity of more than 6 million tons of sugar. The company produces a full line of grocery, industrial, food service and specialty sweetener products. Across North America, ASR Group owns and operates six sugar refineries, located in Louisiana, New York, California, Maryland, Canada and Mexico. In Europe, the company owns and operates sugar refineries in England and Portugal. ASR Group also owns and operates mills in Mexico and Belize. OVERVIEW 

The Process Engineer develops and supports the implementation of new processes while improving existing operations and manufacturing technologies. This role supports multiple capital projects, including process and equipment design reviews, engineering analyses, and technical studies. The Process Engineer works closely with operators, supervisors, and cross-functional partners to troubleshoot process issues, identify improvement opportunities, and help drive safe, efficient, and high-quality operations. This is a hands-on engineering role that includes regular time on the manufacturing floor. 

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develops and implements methods to improve existing processes through automation, process improvements, and new technologies. 

  • Partners with Control Engineers to optimize process controls, fine-tune control points, improve efficiency, and support product quality. 

  • Assists process superintendents and supervisors with troubleshooting process-related issues. 

  • Identifies and supports opportunities to improve energy efficiency across the process and refinery. 

  • Manages assigned process projects and tasks in alignment with process manager priorities. 

  • Follows all safety, environmental, food safety, and food security procedures. 

  • Performs lab testing and analysis to support process improvements. 

  • Learns and applies knowledge of sugar cane processing operations. 

  • Uses strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and SAP, to support engineering and operational work. 

  • Maintains the flexibility to work various shifts, including Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and overtime, as needed. Weekend shifts may be required based on business needs. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

WORK EXPERIENCES 

  • 5+ years of engineering experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. 

  • Experience supervising employees or leading projects involving employees in a unionized work environment. 

  • Experience supporting multiple capital projects. 

  • Experience developing, improving, or supporting the implementation of new processes and procedures. 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university; Chemical Engineering preferred.

Salary Range 

$81,500.00-$151,500.00
