In this role, you will:

  • Manage 1-2 direct reports
  • Be responsible for the occupational Health & Safety of all direct reports under your supervision
  • Support the Project Manager-Major Projects in the day-to-day management of project performance by:
        • Supporting the material planning, execution, and close-out of all project activities.
        • Defining requirements for the functions, for material delivery to the project
        • Managing material scope, deliverables, and change for assigned activities
        • Helping develop and lead the implementation of full-scale material management/execution plans
        • Managing costs and budgets, through effective engagement with functional group stakeholders
        • Developing and supporting project schedules, including the definition and achievement of key events cardinal dates and strategy to supply materials to production
        • Ensuring the project follows required quality assurance commitments in material management
        • Monitoring and reporting on progress of the project to appropriate stakeholders through the development of effective performance management tools for materials
  • Support execution of the project management cycle from beginning to end stages
  • Be an active member of the Project Management Team in developing and communicating strategies and plans, including setting objectives across the organization to meet program goals
  • Coordinate stakeholders, service providers, and subcontractors to deliver on project commitments
  • Ensure that active risk and opportunity management is employed to reduce the impact on schedule and develop recovery plans when issues arise
  • Integrate the Functional Teams, including Production, Commissioning, Engineering, Planning, and Quality to ensure systems are handed over and set to work seamlessly
  • Perform project reviews to evaluate performance, define progress, identify problems and their solutions, and develop reports to regularly communicate findings
  • Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
  • Develop and deliver performance improvement initiatives while supporting other departments to identify and deliver on their own initiatives in support of the project goals
  • Carry out reviews of functions/departments processes, to ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Drive and own continuous improvement initiatives
  • Perform other duties as necessary

 

The ideal candidate brings:  

  • A post secondary education in an Engineering or Project Management discipline or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience 
  • A minimum of 6 years' experience supporting the delivery of major projects or operations
  • Exceptional communication skills and an aptitude for developing collaborative solutions
  • Experience in complex project environments, preferably within the marine industry 
  • Knowledge of:
    • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
    • Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes and systems
    • Planning, Scheduling, Earned Value
    • Risk
    • Project Management Controls
  • Registration with an appropriate Professional body, such as the Project Management Institute (PMI) is considered an asset
  • Eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
