Position Description: Lead, oversee, direct, and coordinate construction field activities and performance of subcontractors and Turner Self-Perform Operations (SPO) staff. The Superintendent is responsible for ensuring safety, schedule delivery, quality of work performed and adherence to budget of the project. The Superintendent has supervisory responsibility for Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, Interns and trade labor in their area or project of responsibility.
Reports to: Senior Project Superintendent, Project Manager or Project Executive
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and make decisions related to project activities in compliance with approved contract documents, scheduling, logistics, quality control, field operations, and WIP and subcontractors and Turner Self-Perform Operations (SPO) staffing levels, provide technical and jobsite planning guidance.
  • Manage and align General Requirements and General Conditions (GR/GC) within project budget.
  • Manage project mock-ups and oversee associated testing, review, and approval as applicable.
  • Ensure acquisition of required project permits and insurance, keep current for term of project, and serve as liaison with inspection agencies.
  • Oversee work among assigned trades to promote coordinated project operations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with subcontractors' Trade staff.
  • Resolve local area problems regarding procedures, precedence, design clarifications, equipment schedule, and other related matters.
  • Develop and manage jobsite safety program in collaboration with EH&S team and ensure subcontractor compliance with
    Turner standards and safety codes and regulations.
  • Create and communicate schedules and determine sequencing of work to project stakeholders and staff.
  • Identify schedule risks and develop, communicate, and implement recovery strategies to maintain project schedule.
  • Identify, investigate, manage, and resolve field issues and communicate with relevant project stakeholders, escalate to project leadership as needed.
  • Manage and verify billing process for Work In Place (WIP) and oversee monthly estimate of work completed, payrolls, material invoices, and subcontractor payment applications.
  • Manage work performed to ensure installation in compliance and conformity to approved contract documents.
  • May serve as Stormwater Compliance Coordinator (SCC) in accordance with Turner's Stormwater Compliance Program.
  • Apply basic continuous improvement concepts and practices to work efficiently, enhance programs, coordinate and reduce waste.
  • May supervise team of Superintendent employees, may oversee Field Engineers and Interns, and participate in hiring process, onboard and deliver timely performance feedback for direct reports, execute/contribute to performance appraisals during annual performance cycle, utilize talent management systems, and identify appropriate training to help with development needs.
  • Other duties, actions, and responsibilities as assigned.

The salary range for this position is estimated to be 145,000.00 - 180,000.00 USD annualized.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited degree program in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction or similar, and minimum of eight (8) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Working knowledge of construction engineering principles and techniques, field supervision, scheduling, estimating, purchasing, general contract, general conditions, subcontract documents, drawings and specifications and basic understanding of construction accounting procedures
  • Extensive experience in Safety and practical knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Knowledgeable of building construction materials, systems, market conditions, trade practices
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule
  • Able to work with minimal information and quickly develop understanding of project requirements
  • Apply critical thinking to make sound decisions
  • Project management of competing demands and meet established deadlines
  • Able to build relationships across project to facilitate work productivity
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiar with continuous improvement methodologies
  • Supervisory and management experience
  • Proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Regular travel throughout Reno and Carson Valley regions is required
