Job description

Valard Construction is expanding our Student (Co-op / Internship) program, and we are currently seeking a Project Coordinator Student to join our Distribution Group in Vaughan, ON for a 4- to 12-month term.

Students work closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to support the planning, coordination, and execution of safe, efficient, and high-quality electrical utility projects. This is a broad, hands-on role that touches every part of a project, giving exposure to how construction projects run, and provides valuable experience in construction, project management, and engineering support within a fast-paced EPC environment. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support project teams across the full lifecycle of construction projects (from planning and permitting through execution and close-out)
  • Assist with permitting and locates coordination, tracking submissions, approvals, and outstanding items
  • Support material planning and tracking (orders, deliveries, and inventory as it relates to project schedules)
  • Help maintain project trackers, schedules, and documentation so the team always has an up-to-date picture of status
  • Assist in resolving field issues by coordinating between the office and crews, gathering information, and following up on action items
  • Support cost and progress tracking, and help prepare reports or updates for the project team
  • Liaise with utilities, vendors, subcontractors, and internal departments as needed
  • Take on ad hoc tasks that come up day to day (this role is meant to flex to wherever support is needed)

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a related program (i.e. construction management, engineering or engineering technology, other co-op/diploma program)
  • Eligible to work in Canada for the full duration of the term
  • Understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and related documentation
  • Ability to interpret project schedules and timelines
  • Proficiency with standard computer programs, including spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation tools
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable talking with field crews, vendors, and office staff alike

Preferred Skills / Qualifications

  • Previous experience or exposure to the construction industry
