Job description
Manufacturing Operations is accepting online applications for the position of Machinist Mechanic located in Pascagoula, Mississippi through July 26th, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
Successful candidates will be expected to progress through the Pascagoula Formal Maintenance Training Program within 3 years of their hire date to become competent and skilled in all aspects of the machinist craft Candidates must be knowledgeable of industrial pump repair, industrial compressor repair, and operating machine shop equipment. Experienced candidates have the potential for early completion of the training program (in as little as (15) fifteen months). This will be based on demonstrated competency witnessed and approved by the Team Leader and a formal test out process. Trainees who successfully test out will receive pay increases that reflect these advanced steps as they progress through the training program. Both written and hands-on skill assessments are required to progress through advanced training. All candidates will be required to successfully demonstrate the ability to climb heights up to 200 feet and satisfy confined space entry testing.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Troubleshooting, disassembly, inspection, repair and assembly of industrial pumps, industrial compressors, and steam turbines
Rotating equipment removal and installations to include alignment using reverse alignment and laser alignment
Operating outside machinery to include operation of portable machine equipment
Reading machinery, rotating equipment drawings, and documenting the readings
Operating manual machine shop equipment, including lathe, milling machines, boring machines, balancing machines, drill presses, etc.
Using precision measuring instruments in field and shop environments.
Performing other incidental craft work, e.g., fabrication, machinery, etc. to complete the job.
Organizing, planning, and executing daily work assignments.
Following routine duties, safe work practices, and demonstrating safe work behaviors.
Working with other functional departments such as Reliability, Operations, and Engineering daily.
The position will typically work on a 4x10 day shift work schedule.
Typical shifts are Monday - Thursday but can vary based on work needs.
Planned / Unplanned shift work and overtime will be required. The position can also be called out after normal work hours as needed.
Work associated with this position typically involves working outdoors year-round.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
A valid Driver's License
Basic computer skills
2 years' machinery craft work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Successful completion of an Internship at the Chevron Pascagoula Refinery as a Machinist Intern or formalized apprenticeship training program.
Relevant machinery trade school endorsed by the Central Gulf Industrial Alliance (CGIA), military or formalized training program graduate.
Minimum of 5 years inside machinists or outside machinery/millwright experience.
Automotive and/or industrial motorized equipment repair experience.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
As part of the application process, you will be required to take an assessment that measures aptitude and work styles. We recommend you allow approx. 45 minutes to complete the assessment in one sitting. If you need to exit, your progress will be saved.
You will be immediately directed to the testing portal upon submittal of your application, at which point you will have 72 hours (about 3 days) to complete the online assessment.
Once complete, your assessment score will be valid for 180 days. Should you re-apply for another Job Requisition within this timeframe that includes the Maintenance assessment, you will be required to complete the application process and then click on the assessment link. This will resubmit your previous results.
