JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Under the direction of the Project Engineering Manager, the Sr. Project Engineer I is responsible for managing projects from the design stage, all the way through production approval. Including tooling, fixtures, gauging, production routings, schedules, dimensional approval, costs, profitability, and customer contact / correspondence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded from time to time to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary.
• Comply with all safety and health guidelines, quality standard practices/procedures and housekeeping standards.
• Prioritize customer satisfaction, timeliness, and quality.
• Manage and facilitates all part number project activities in multiple facilities including tool design, gauge design, and supplier selection.
• Leads all APQP process for all assigned part projects.
• Acts as a mentor and resource to other Engineer's at a level I & II. May be responsible for Engineering Intern program.
• Act as an influencer and contributing member to the plant management team on process improvement projects, OKR's (i.e. OpEx planning, CI activities).
• Investigate and correct part number scrap/defect related issues.
• Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing procedures.
• Leads the plant management team during operational review meetings with the executive team. May stand in for the plant manager during the meeting.
• Ability to stand in for Process/Manufacturing engineer as it relates to new part activity.
• Ability to effectively manage and problem solve through customer line down situation, tight project development timelines, and quality concerns.
• Participate in activities related to audits, regulatory, customer, and registrar.
• Assist in company technical advancement through research and development.
• Perform customer technical sales presentations/seminars at customer sites.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Requires a bachelor's degree in technical engineering field from a four-year college or university and 5+ years' experience in a foundry setting; and or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in aerospace or defense industries a plus. Prior experience with CAD, FEA, and MiniTab software.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Requires the ability to operate various equipment to include various precision measuring devices and lifting devices. Requires a broad knowledge of tooling, material characteristics, and general manufacturing and machining practices. Should be knowledgeable and/or familiar with applicable ISO/IATF/AS and quality system requirements and policies. Be knowledgeable of 3D solid modeling (SolidCast) and NX (UniGraphics). Apply GD&T principles and continuous flow manufacturing principles. Proficient with MS Office Suite products.
