Purpose of Position

This role will lead development and deployment of a Timken software platform that converts product geometry and tooling data into manufacturing models and instructions-enabling product print (or change) to manufacturing order release in under 24 hours. This position will also support gauging/inspection software and provide global plant troubleshooting to reduce manufacturing cost and accelerate new product launches.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop analytical manufacturing process models with process engineering teams across bearing disciplines.
  • Define equipment capabilities and routing rules in the system; ensure alignment with SAP Production Order Scheduling.
  • Convert process models into production code: operator setup/operation instructions, CNC/gauging programs, and Quality process control plans.
  • Coordinate bearing dimensional data requirements with Product Design to enable accurate process models.
  • Design, develop, and maintain metrology/gauging software (C++, C#/.NET); integrate software with hardware (data acquisition, instrumentation, motor drives, external I/O). Lead and mentor the international software development team.
  • Provide global plant support and troubleshooting for system or operational issues.
  • Manage projects using standard tools for planning, resourcing, and corrective actions.
  • Occasional domestic/international travel to support startups (<5%).

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's in mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years' relevant experience.
  • Proven software development experience in Windows using Visual Studio, MFC, C++ and C#/.NET.
  • Manufacturing experience, machine control systems, and system integration knowledge.
  • Familiarity with GD&T, engineering drawings, and product data needs for manufacturing.
  • Experience with MATLAB, LabVIEW, JMP and strong Excel/Access skills.
  • Demonstrated project management, problem-solving, and effective communication/teamwork skills.
