Job description

Jenike & Johanson is seeking a Project Engineer with 3-5 years of experience in engineering and consulting in our San Luis Obispo office. You will work on multi-disciplinary powder and bulk solids handling projects from technical concept through solution delivery to the client, with an emphasis on consulting and advisory work. This role blends technical project engineering with client-facing consulting work, weighted toward consulting.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a technical advisor, communicate and present solutions to clients, evaluating processes and providing clear, actionable guidance
  • Develop engineering solutions for client technical challenges
  • Produce feasibility studies, conceptual designs, and functional designs
  • Coordinate laboratory and pilot scale testing with powders and bulk solids
  • Research solution approaches involving equipment configuration or process modifications
  • Perform calculations for flow and transport, and analyses using proprietary modeling technologies
  • Contribute to the integrated team, partnering with business development and supporting less-experienced engineers
  • Travel on a periodic basis to meet with clients, perform site visits, and visit J&J offices both domestically and internationally
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering. Master’s degree preferred
  • 3-5 years plant and/or engineering experience
  • Internal Candidates Only:
    • Minimum 2 years of current experience within the J&J Organization
  • Consulting or client advisory experience strongly preferred
  • Basic CAD package familiarity, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks
  • Excellent design and problem-solving skills
  • Masterful written and verbal communication with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to adapt effectively when priorities change in response to business needs
  • Must have valid driver's license and passport, or ability to obtain one
