Job description

Cabot Creamery has held B Corp certification since 2012 and became the world's first dairy co-op to do so. This certification demonstrates our commitment to transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet. 

Our dairy cooperative is seeking a regular, full-time Machine Operator for our Butter Churn operation on 3rd shift (11pm-7am) who will operate the butter churn effectively and efficiently to meet production requirements. Understand the process of churning butter and all related equipment. Ensure compliance with state and federal government regulations. Maintain churn facilities in a sanitary manner, including Clean in Place (CIP) washing of equipment, and cleaning of walls, floors, ceilings, light fixtures, drains and other similar environmental areas.

Schedule flexibility, willingness to work overtime, weekends, holiday and rotate shift, as required. At times overtime, weekend work, holiday work, and shift rotation will be mandatory. Starting rate: $29.29/hr. plus 10% shift differential for 3rd shift.

SKILLS, ABILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE:

• Work effectively in a multi-tasking environment, work independently and as part of a team, work with minimum supervision and ability to interact positively with others at every level of the organization.

• Identify and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Handle situations or problems that occur with a high level of professionalism and direction.
• Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to read and understand instructions and manuals.

• Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and positive attitude. Ability to grow and support a team environment.
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
• Ethics – Treat people with respect, keeps commitments, inspires the trust of others, work with integrity and ethically and uphold organizational values. Act as a responsible steward of the environment

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum high school diploma, GED or HiSET.
• Experience operating machinery in a manufacturing environment is preferred, in the food industry would be a plus.
• Experience with manufacturing safety requirements, lock-out/tag-out preferred.

ADDITIONAL NOTES / WORK ENVIRONMENT


• Work involves exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.
• Physical effort – Requires the occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 70 lbs. Requires the occasional handling and maneuvering of objects weighing more than 100 lbs.
• Work environment involves exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals.
