Job description

Responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of existing electrical systems and equipment at the Carton Plant. This includes installing, maintaining and repairing electrical components, diagnosing electrical problems, and performing preventative maintenance to minimize downtime. Also responsible for diagnosing, adjusting, and repairing hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment used at the Carton Plant.

Essential Job functions/ Duties:

  • Ensures safety is the number one priority by following all policies and procedures, attending daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections, and reporting all injuries, near misses, unsafe acts and property damage.
  • Adheres to Fruit Growers Supply's Lockout/Tagout and Try procedures, as well as all machine-specific Lockout/Tagout and Try procedures.
  • Completes a “Maintenance Task Hazard Assessment” for each non-routine task.
  • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on existing electrical systems and machinery, including motors, transformers, wiring and other components.
  • Diagnoses and resolves electrical malfunctions in a timely manner to ensure minimal impact on production.
  • Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as replays, switches, and motors. Positions sensing devices such as proximity switch timers, scanners, and photo electric devices.
  • Installs and upgrades existing electrical systems as needed, ensuring all installations comply with safety standards and electrical codes.
  • Programs and troubleshoots PLC’s (using tablet/computer) and automated control systems to maintain and optimize production equipment and processes.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of electrical repairs, installations, and maintenance activities. Update schematics and ensure all documentation is accessible.
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety.
  • Locates, diagnoses and repairs malfunctions of Hydraulic systems, Pneumatic systems, Water & Starch piping systems, including pumps, valves, and cylinders.
  • Assists with plant layouts and wiring installations.
  • Performs necessary procedures to maintain parts stores inventory system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervision/Management, including general housekeeping duties.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Certifications/Licenses, and Experience:

  • 3-5 years Maintenance electrician experience in Corrugated Industry or related field.
  • Minimum High School or GED or other related field; or equivalent
  • Preferred Vocational / Technician Electrician training and safety
  • Required Valid Electrician Certificate, or equivalent electrician experience
  • Preferred A valid driver's license
  • Preferred Fork lift Certificate
  • Must be able to work back shifts and overtime when necessary.
  • Knowledge of E-Maintenance preferred
  • Troubleshooting expertise
  • Possesses basic knowledge of automated controls.
  • Possesses basic electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanic knowledge.
  • Ability to distinguish colors.
  • Ability to be flexible to reach and body height consistent with job responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a mature and professional manner.
  • Possesses a positive “can do” attitude.
  • Possesses a sense of urgency.
  • Forklift certificate preferred.
  • Must be able to complete NFPA-70E annual training
