Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of the injection molding process including, but not limited to, set-up and tear down, troubleshooting, equipment maintenance and work flow.
  • Working with production personnel and Quality to ensure molded components meet requirements, adjusting as required.
  • Providing molded components in a timely manner to ensure production schedules are met.
  • Working with outside vendors to develop tooling and fixtures that result in the manufacturing of high quality products.
  • Managing raw molding materials in a way that ensures traceability and prevents contamination.
  • Generating documentation on molding runs that can be used to control traceability and ensure reproducibility.
  • Working with Quality, and Manufacturing Departments during concept, prototyping, and release of new products.
  • Following established procedures to maintain a clean and organized environment.
  • Drafting and performing mold validations.
  • Other assignments as requested.
  • Assure all safety and housekeeping procedures are followed.
  • Report all quality and scrap issues to appropriate Supervisor / Manager as soon as possible.
  • Contact Maintenance for applicable equipment issues / non-conformances.
  • Monitor product quality and process control parameters per operating instructions and control plans - adjust and document as required.
  • Waste handling of process waste as required.
  • Facilitate communication between other Technicians regarding process improvements and troubleshooting activities.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in injection molding.
  • Candidate must have good organizational skills.
  • Candidate must be proactive and show initiative in taking on and completing injection molding projects.
  • Candidate must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated examples of monitoring a process and adjusting as necessary to maintain a specific product quality.
  • Willingness to work required hours overtime, weekend work and early morning startups is likely.
  • Demonstrated ability to determine root cause and implement actions to correct them.
  • Self-motivated in diagnosing and solving problems to improve efficiency.
  • Experience with basic safety processes and how to work safely around automated equipment.
  • Experience and understanding of automotive quality requirements for interior products would be very helpful.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot product quality/process issues, interpret data and problem solve.
  • Basic computer skills with general understanding of software programs (Windows, Micro Soft Word, Micro Soft Excel, etc.).
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Training or Kepner Trego Training a plus
