The Construction QA/QC Manager position is a primary role where an individual is directly responsible for the implementation and management of applicable quality control plan(s) as directed by the General Manager on a company-wide, division-wide or project-wide basis, to assure work performed by Suffolk Construction and its subcontractors is performed in compliance with applicable specifications, plans and governmental requirements from project commencement through close out (and commissioning, if applicable). 

Responsibilities
  • Implement and maintain the Corporate Quality Management Program across all areas of the business and ensure compliance.
  • Expand and Develop standard operating procedures and processes to achieve the highest levels of quality associated with delivering a completed construction project.
  • Assist with the creation of project specific Quality Management Plans and verify implementation of plan for each project.
  • Assist with the development of Quality metrics that empower teams to review information on quality execution; work cross-functionally with operations to address any trends.
  • Manage a team of Quality Managers and/or professionals to execute the administrative tasks related to reporting site evaluations, quality reporting requirements, and site specific quality planning.
  • Conduct random site evaluations, including follow-up evaluations to ensure corrections have been made to deficiencies.
  • Create mechanisms for sharing best practices and quality issues across project teams and among all quality personnel.
  • Act as a resource for field operations with compliance on Federal and State regulatory requirements as well as local quality regulations including: ADA, ASHE, NFPA, UL, ASTM, and FBC.
  • Develop and update comprehensive training curriculum for all field operations, Quality Department Staff, and Subcontractors.
  • Stay abreast of trends and evolving best practices by participating in organizations and forums dedicated to Quality. Keep the Company informed of the latest updates on best practices and standards.
  • Represent Suffolk with Owners, Architects, Consultants, Government Authorities, Vendors and Subcontractors.
  • Build effective working relationships with clients, trade partners, and the Suffolk project team members.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Quality Management or demonstrated equivalent field.
  • 5 plus years of experience in related construction fields.
  • Solid understanding of means and methods of construction
  • Proficient with computer software used in the construction industry
  • Working knowledge of national and State code and quality regulations/standards.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
