By joining Epicured's Operations team, you will play a critical role in supporting innovative healthcare programs, including New York's Section 1115 Medicaid Waiver initiative. This position offers the opportunity to help scale systems that directly support patient access to Food as Medicine programs.

Role Overview:

The QA/QC Manager is responsible for ensuring every customer order shipped from our Healthy Foods Staten Island facility meets the company's quality, food safety, shipping and customer requirements. This position serves as the final quality gate before orders leave the facility.

The QA/QC Manager oversees quality control throughout the fulfillment process, verifying that every meal box contains the correct product packing requirements, corresponding documentation, specialty diet requirements, while meeting all shipping standards.

This role works closely with Production, Fulfillment, Inventory, Procurement and Shipping to eliminate packing errors, improve customer satisfaction and mitigate error.

Key Responsibilities:

Fulfillment Quality Control

  • Serve as the final quality authority for all outbound customer orders.

  • Manage random audit of completed orders throughout every shift.

KPI Management

  • Track and report Key Performance Indicators and present quality metrics during weekly operations meetings.

Shipping Accuracy

  • Monitor fulfillment lines ensuring all corresponding labels and boxes for orders are accurate.

  • Ensure FIFO procedures are followed.

Quality Audits

  • Perform routine audits of and maintain documentation records for assembly lines, packing stations, shipping areas, ice packing procedures, inventory staging and

finished pallet inspections.

Root Cause Analysis

  • Investigate customer complaints, identify root causes and implement correction course.

Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA)

  • Develop corrective actions to reduce recurring issues. (i.e. packing process improvements, SOP revisions, employee retraining, etc.)

Employee Training

  • Conduct and maintain training for fulfillment employees on a variety of salient topics such as: food safety, packing SOPs, quality standards, handling requirements, ice packing standards shipping accuracy and product identification.

  • Understand when refresher courses are needed and ensure all team members are adhering to training standards.

Documentation

  • Maintain records including: daily QA inspections, box audit logs, shipping verification logs, temperature verification, corrective actions, customer complaint investigations and non -conformance reports.

Qualifications:

Required

  • 7+ years in Quality Assurance, Food Manufacturing, Fulfillment or Distribution

  • Experience managing a team of hourly employees

  • Track record of building consensus among team members

  • Food safety knowledge

  • Knowledge of GMPs

  • HACCP understanding

  • Ability to work in refrigerated environments

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Strong problem-solving abilities

Preferred

  • SQF, BRC, or FSMA experience

  • Lean Manufacturing

  • Six Sigma

  • Meal kit or prepared foods experience

  • Bilingual English/Spanish

Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk for extended periods

  • Lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Frequent bending, reaching, and walking throughout the facility
