William Charles Construction is now hiring for a Quality Control Manager in New Albany, IN!

The QC Manager ensure that all construction activities comply with project specifications, industry standards and regulatory requirements.ย  This role is critical for maintaining quality assurance throughout heavy civil construction projects, including earthwork, concrete, utilities and structural components.

Responsibilities:

Develop and Implement Quality Plans

  • Create and maintain a project-specific Quality Management Plan (QMP) outlining standards, procedures and protocols.
  • Ensure the QMP aligns with contract requirements and regulatory standards.

Conduct Inspections

  • Perform regular site walks to inspect work during and after construction for compliance with specifications, plans and safety regulations.

Document and Report

  • Maintain thorough records of inspections, findings and corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present reports on quality metrics and progress to senior management.
  • Track and verify subcontractor compliance with quality requirements.

Ensure Compliance

  • Verify that all construction activities, materials and safety measures adhere to industry standards, government regulations and contract documents.

Problem Solve

  • Identify quality issues, perform root cause analysis and work with the project team to implement effective corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to prevent recurring issues.

Collaborate with Teams

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and other stakeholders to maintain high-quality standards throughout the project.
  • Facilititate pre-installation meetings and quality-related training sessions.

Promote Safety

  • Help ensure a safe work environment by identifying and correcting potential hazards and ensuring adherence to safety plans.

Train Staff

  • Assist in training site personnel on quality control policies, procedures and best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Associate or Bachelorโ€™s degree in construction management
  • 5 ย  years of experience in quality control or inspection within heavy civil construction (roads, bridges, utilities, earthwork).ย  Design-Build experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with DOT specifications and ASTM standards.

In addition to the above listed minimum requirements, candidates who poses the following skills, experience, and capabilities may receive greater consideration during the evaluation process:

  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods and testing procedures.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Certifications

  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician
  • OSHA 30 Hour Certification.
  • NICET Certification

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Frequent walking, standing and lifting up to 50 lbs.
