Position Title: Engineering Technician - Technical Expert

The Opportunity
The role is a skilled technical contributor assisting production, customers, and service with automation related tasks for the AGI NECO Dryer systems. Responsibilities include assuring that the Engineered to Order (ETO) control packages match mechanical elements, working with development team to better understand the needs of customers and provide feedback from customers to drive continuous improvement projects and. It is essential that this individual possesses hands-on experience with equipment control panels, PLC and HMI Program analysis, and schematic development. Additionally, this role will be responsible for diagnosing customer and production equipment issues to determine if issues are controls or hardware related, troubleshooting all controls related issues, and providing solution based step-by-step instructions for those issues.
Responsibilities:
  • Partner with sales and technical experts in support of the needs of customers and production.
  • Customer forward electrical and controls system diagnostics.
  • PLC Program understanding and troubleshooting methods related to both digital and analog I/O.
  • An understanding of Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and ability to perform(learn) VFD parameter setup.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend solutions for customer field and controls issues.
  • Navigate and understand the functions of equipment HMI interfaces.
  • Self-learning of equipment, field devices and control hardware as needed to diagnose customer issues.
  • Collaborating with the Development Engineering team to improve all existing offerings and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with 0-2 years of experience with PLC based automation or an associate's degree in electrical engineering, Certificate/Degree in Automation development and/or PLC programming with 2-5 years of hands-on process automation/control design experience including PLC and HMI programming.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Understanding of industrial electrical schematics.
  • Understanding of controls/automation systems and Control Theory.
  • PLC Programming Experience preferred.
  • Competency in navigating industrial networks a bonus.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal communication capability.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage time well.
  • Self-directed and results oriented.
  • MS Office platform proficient including Visio & Project
  • Understanding of industrial electrical schematics.
  • UL 508A Control Panel Building Standards
  • IEC / CE -European Control Panel Standards is a positive
  • Capability to design process automation & control systems including experience / understanding of Pneumatic Solenoid Valves, pumping systems with VFD controls, Motor controls for material handling systems including soft-start applications, Distributed Control / Field Bus, RS232 and RS485.
  • Some limited travel may be required, up to 15% of time.
