Job description

The ISC Capital Engineering group is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership for capital projects across Solstice Advanced Materials' manufacturing network. This position may be based in Baton Rouge or Geismar, LA; Colonial Heights, VA; or Houston, TX, and reports to the Director of Engineering and Process Automation.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as an electrical engineering subject matter expert, providing technical leadership across all phases of capital projects.
  • Lead electrical engineering execution through Pre‐FEED, FEED, detailed design, construction support, and startup/commissioning.
  • Develop Electrical Scopes of Work (SOWs) and Basis of Design documents for capital project execution.
  • Specify, evaluate, and select high‐, medium‐, and low‐voltage electrical equipment, including switchgear, MCCs, starters, UPS systems, motors, lighting, and associated systems.
  • Manage vendor interactions, bid evaluations, and equipment selection, and clearly communicate technical recommendations to project teams.
  • Apply and maintain Solstice Engineering Standards and support site‐specific standards as required.
  • Ensure standardization of equipment and materials and adherence to plant standards.
  • Lead or support development, revision, and maintenance of Electrical Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Update electrical procedures and drawings as plant electrical distribution systems evolve.
  • Ensure QA/QC requirements are properly defined and met for all capital installations.
  • Provide technical guidance related to electrical codes, fire protection requirements, and industry best practices, with a strong focus on safety and code compliance.
  • Direct contractors, designers, and maintenance personnel to ensure technical consistency and quality in engineering deliverables.
  • Develop familiarity with plant electrical systems, including load distribution, coordination, segregation, and hazardous area compliance.
  • Perform and/or review area classification studies in accordance with NFPA, IEC, and other applicable standards.
  • Review, approve, and sign electrical drawings in accordance with ISO and corporate requirements.
  • Manage execution of the electrical discipline through engineering and construction while coordinating closely with plant stakeholders.
  • Maintain the integrity of electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance, and materials management teams to improve safety, reliability, and asset performance.
  • Utilize AutoCAD (2D/3D) and CADWorx to support detailed design and construction packages.
  • Provide project scoping input to ensure accurate estimates and efficient design solutions.
  • Manage electrical discipline budgets, costs, and performance metrics for capital projects.
  • Drive value engineering and continuous improvement.
  • Prepare electrical estimate packages and construction work order packages.

Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 8–10 years of electrical design experience in a chemical, petrochemical, or similar industrial environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%, as required.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Strong working knowledge of PIP, NEC, NFPA, IEC, GB, and API codes and standards.
  • Experience with hazardous area design, motors, cables, grounding, and power distribution systems.
  • Ability to size motors, starters, switchgear, cables, panels, and grounding systems.
  • Experience with commissioning, preventive maintenance, coordination studies, troubleshooting, LOTO, and MOC.
  • Ability to commission and interpret short‐circuit, load flow, protective relay coordination, and arc‐flash studies.
