Where You Will Work

What You Will Do
Provide leadership, management, strategic plan development and organization of resources for Process Automation Engineering and site Industrial Control Systems.
  • Responsible for establishing and enforcing safe practices for all Process Automation (PA) personnel and plant equipment including developing and enforcing all cyber security policies relating to Industrial Control System (ICS's).
  • Sets vision and expectation for site Process Automation team and represents Process Automation in site leadership decision making.
  • Owns and manages Freeport-McMoRan PA engineering standards, ICS architecture, PA policies, and directs compliance with global standards and best PA practices for Operations and Operator effectiveness including alarm management and Human Machine Interface (HMI) design.
  • Directs site leadership on performance of plant processes through process optimization and instrumentation specifications and initiatives. Responsible for annual expense and capital budgeting for Process Automation services.
  • Establishes policies and best practices for maintaining the integrity of the Process Control Network (PCN) and collaborates with Management Information Services (MIS) to develop and enforce standards and policies.
  • Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline and seven (7) years' experience in engineering or related scientific field relevant to Process Automation, including lead or supervisory experience, OR
  • Master's degree in an Engineering discipline and five (5) years' experience in engineering or related scientific field relevant to Process Automation, including lead or supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous supervision, leadership or management experience
  • PLC, HMI, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and/or Distributed Control Systems (DCS) manufacture training or certification
  • Experience with plant process historians or similar database storage and retrieval systems
  • Experience with ICS/PCN network architecture, communication and security
  • Experience in or understanding of mining and mineral processing and systems
  • Familiarity with or training in NFPA 70 and NEC or Electrical Journeyman Training

Criteria/Conditions:
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable state laws

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $120,000-$167,500. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation considerations based on company and individual performance. Additionally, this position is currently eligible for annual long-term incentive consideration. Long-term incentives are contingent upon authorized approval under the terms and conditions of the Company's plan and award agreements. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
