Position Overview:
We are seeking a results-driven Manufacturing Process Improvement Engineer to support aerospace manufacturing operations in Indianapolis by driving measurable improvements in Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) performance.
This role focuses on applying data-driven manufacturing engineering methods to identify root causes of production issues and implement sustainable process improvements. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with hands-on experience applying statistical tools, structured root cause analysis, and DMAIC methodologies to improve manufacturing performance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and execute manufacturing improvement projects focused on Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) performance.
* Collect, analyze, and interpret production data to identify process issues and drive fact-based decision making.
* Apply structured root cause analysis tools including 5 Why, Fishbone (Ishikawa), Fault Tree Analysis, and 8D problem solving.
* Utilize statistical analysis and process control tools such as SPC, capability studies, regression analysis, ANOVA, and Design of Experiments (DOE).
* Partner with Quality, Production, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams to implement improvements that reduce waste, improve cycle times, and increase process capability.
* Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to validate improvements and ensure sustained operational gains.
Required Qualifications:
* Minimum 3 years of aerospace manufacturing experience with strong background in manufacturing engineering, process optimization, and production support.
* Demonstrated expertise applying structured problem-solving and root cause analysis methods including 5 Why Analysis, Fishbone Diagrams, Fault Tree Analysis, and 8D.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including experience using statistical analysis tools and data-driven decision making.
* Hands-on experience with statistical methods such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), capability studies, Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA / Gage R&R), regression analysis, or Design of Experiments (DOE).
* Proven track record of delivering measurable operational improvements such as scrap reduction, yield improvement, cycle time reduction, or throughput gains.
* Bachelor"s Degree in Engineering or related technical field.
* Due to the nature of the work U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience applying DMAIC methodology in manufacturing process improvement initiatives.
* Familiarity with Lean manufacturing tools such as Kaizen, 5S, and Value Stream Mapping.
* Experience working within AS9100 or aerospace quality management systems.
* Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt).
