Job Description

Our client is a small Texas law firm focused on probate, estate planning, and probate litigation. We are seeking an experienced Attorney with at least five years of relevant experience to join our team. This position is full-time, salaried, and in person.

This is an important hire for our firm. We are a close-knit office where every team member plays a meaningful role in serving clients and contributing to the firm's success. The right candidate will be a skilled attorney who can independently manage matters while also collaborating with a hardworking, supportive, and growth-oriented team.

We are looking for an attorney who already understands Texas probate practice, exercises sound legal judgment, and is comfortable managing cases from initial consultation through resolution. The ideal candidate will be confident handling probate administrations, estate planning matters, probate litigation, client counseling, court appearances, and case strategy with minimal supervision.

Primary Responsibilities

The Attorney will manage probate, estate planning, trust and estate administration, and probate litigation matters. Responsibilities may include:

* Managing probate and estate administration matters from intake through closing;

* Advising clients regarding probate procedures, estate administration, fiduciary responsibilities, and related legal issues;

* Drafting and reviewing probate applications, heirship pleadings, inventories, accountings, notices, motions, and related filings;

* Preparing and reviewing wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives, and other estate planning documents;

* Handling contested probate, fiduciary, trust, and estate litigation matters;

* Conducting legal research and drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and legal memoranda;

* Representing clients in court hearings, mediations, depositions, and settlement negotiations;

* Developing case strategies and advising clients regarding risks, options, and outcomes;

* Reviewing and analyzing asset information, title records, financial records, and estate-related documentation;

* Maintaining regular communication with clients, opposing counsel, courts, fiduciaries, and third parties;

* Supervising and collaborating with paralegals and support staff to ensure efficient case management;

* Tracking deadlines, hearings, filings, and litigation schedules;

* Participating in business development, networking, and relationship-building efforts as appropriate;

* Performing other attorney duties related to probate, estate planning, and litigation matters.

Qualifications Required

* Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas;

* Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing in probate, estate planning, trust administration, or probate litigation

* Must have Trial experience

* Strong knowledge of Texas probate law and procedures;

* Experience independently managing probate and estate administration matters;

* Experience appearing in Texas probate courts;

* Excellent legal research, writing, drafting, and analytical skills;

* Strong client counseling and communication abilities;

* Ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines effectively;

* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;

* Professional judgment, reliability, and a client-focused mindset;

* Experience with Texas e-filing systems and probate court procedures.

Preferred

* Significant probate litigation experience;

* Experience handling contested heirship and fiduciary disputes;

* Experience drafting complex estate planning documents;

* Experience with Clio or similar case management software;

* Board Certification in Estate Planning and Probate Law (or interest in pursuing certification);

* Experience supervising junior attorneys, paralegals, or support staff.
