About JerseySTEM
All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions.
JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.
Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization's gender-equity agenda.
Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K-12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.
Overview
This is a pro-bono volunteer position.
JerseySTEM is a grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to offering innovative opportunities and bridging the gender gap in STEM education for children in New Jersey's underserved communities. We are dedicated to partnering with local schools, parents, and educators to create and enhance STEM-oriented educational opportunities for students in grades 5-8 as part of their paths towards college and career readiness. We provide free after-school, project-based, and hands-on structured programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Classes include: Robotics, Coding, Engineering, Life Sciences, etc. Classes last up to 10 weeks and are predominantly taught by trained volunteer college students.
Responsibilities
  • Be able to design compelling graphic and visual content.
  • Prepare rough layouts of artwork for presentation and approval.
  • Use creative skills in Photoshop and Illustrator to create marketing collaterals.
  • Willingness to take on responsibility and work in a team.
  • Commitment to excellence and meeting company expectations.
  • Drive to complete assignments on time and effectively.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in digital platforms.
  • Dependency and commitment to the job
  • Demonstrate a passion for kids, education, and graphic designing
  • Must be extremely tech savvy.
  • Past experience(s) in Graphic Design. Applicants must submit a portfolio
  • Minimum of 5-10 hours per week commitment is preferred.
  • This is a virtual position. You will be expected to still maintain high levels of communication with team members while working remotely
