PRN (pro re nata, or as-needed) RNs often face the challenge of quickly adapting to various units, patient populations, and workflows since they may float between different departments based on staffing needs. Effective communication, flexibility, and a strong foundational nursing knowledge are crucial for success in this role. Being proactive in asking questions and seeking clarification helps ensure safe and efficient practice while working in diverse environments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a PRN RN, and why are they important?
