Radiologic Technologist or Limited Radiologic Technologist 

Grinnell, Iowa

Status: Full-Time or PRN     


 Pay: $30-$35 an hour + a bonus up to 10%

Position Summary: The Radiologic Technologist (R.T. (R)) or Limited Radiologic Technologists (LMRT) is responsible for providing basic clinical care to patients. The duties shall include performing initial clinical evaluations as well as directed procedures for urgent care procedures. This position will perform x-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement using knowledge of anatomy and physiology. The RT(R) or LMRT will prepare patients for continued medical evaluation by advanced registered nurse practitioners by taking a brief history, establishing vital signs, recording appropriate documentation, and shooting x-rays.      


Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Minimal Patient Lifting Required
  • Perform radiographic examinations following departmental protocols and physician instructions.
  • Prepare and position patients to obtain high-quality diagnostic images while ensuring privacy, comfort, and proper shielding.
  • Operate radiologic equipment safely, adjusting technical factors and positioning as needed to obtain optimal images.
  • Accurately document and maintain patient records in the radiology information system and/or EMR.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, providers, nurses, and other team members to support coordinated, efficient care.
  • Provides timely follow up regarding lab and x-ray results
  • Assists with patient check-in/out procedures when necessary
  • Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs and weight, takes brief history, past medical, family and social history, current medications, allergies, and other pertinent historical information as appropriate
  • Administer any medication as ordered by the provider and within your licensure/certification
  • Laboratory duties- Perform CLIA-waived lab test, draw blood and collect and label specimens for any send out labs; Perform DOT and Non-DOT urine drug screens and Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT)
  • Ensures that equipment is in proper working order and reports any malfunctions to the Center Manager or designee on duty
  • Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and patient confidentiality policies
  • Phlebotomy, injections, medical procedures and laboratory procedures appropriate for the level of training under the direction of a clinician
  • Acts with honesty and integrity in all business transactions, including, but not limited to, employment applications/resumes, patient records, time records, and financial transactions
  •  Follow all regulatory, accreditation, and organizational policies and procedures

Education:

  • Graduate of an approved two-year Radiologic Technology program or LMRT program
  • High School graduate or equivalent

Special Skills and Requirements:

  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or be registry eligible and possess a current Iowa license.
  • BLS 
  • Mandatory Reporter for Dependent Adult and Child Abuse
  • Must be able to interact with client personnel and team members in an autonomous responsible, professional and ethical manner.
  • Must be able to produce very high-quality special imaging with little supervision.
  • Must be able to function effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Must be flexible, reliable and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds as well as assist with patient maneuvering.
  • Ability to demonstrate competency in all applicable areas.
