Labcorp is seeking a Per Diem/PRN Lab Assistant to join its Cytology Processing department in Houston, TX!

Work Schedule: This is a Per Diem/PRN role. Flexible schedule, between Monday-Friday, 3pm-1130pm. Hours will be based on business needs

Job Responsibilities:

  • Receive and sort specimens for cytology department
  • Process specimens for Non-Gyn testing and Thin Prep Gyn testing
  • Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information
  • Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
  • Troubleshoot any specimen related issues
  • Replenish test bench supplies as needed
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

PreferredQualification:

  • Current or prior Labcorp experience
  • 1 year or more of experiencein the healthcare industry, such as a physician's office,clinicor hospital
  • 1 year or more ofexperiencein a lab setting
  • 1 year or more experince in a cytology lab
  • 6 months or more experience with Hologic ThinPrep2000, T5000, Genius Imagers, Tomcats

Additional Job Standards:

  • Comfortability with handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accuratelyidentifyspecimens
  • Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
  • High levelof attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to work in afast-pacedproduction environment and meet established turn-around times
  • Strong communicationskills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
