As of Jun 17, 2026, the average hourly pay for prn customer service representative in the United States is $18.80, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $15.38 and $20.91 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is a PRN Customer Service Representative?

A PRN Customer Service Representative is a customer service professional who works on an 'as needed' or per diem basis, rather than holding a regular full-time or part-time schedule. PRN stands for 'pro re nata,' a Latin term meaning 'as the situation demands.' These representatives typically fill in during busy periods, staff shortages, or special projects, providing support by answering inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Their flexible work arrangement allows employers to manage fluctuating workloads effectively while offering employees greater schedule flexibility.

What is a PRN front desk position?

A PRN front desk position is a part-time, as-needed role typically involving greeting visitors, answering phones, and managing administrative tasks at the front desk. In this context, PRN indicates that the employee works irregular or on-call hours without a fixed schedule, often requiring good communication skills and basic computer proficiency.

What is the difference between Prn Customer Service Representative vs Part-Time Customer Service Representative?

AspectPrn Customer Service RepresentativePart-Time Customer Service Representative
Work ScheduleAs needed, irregular hoursScheduled hours, fewer than full-time
CredentialsHigh school diploma or equivalent, customer service experienceHigh school diploma or equivalent, customer service experience
Work EnvironmentCall centers, healthcare settings, retailCall centers, retail, healthcare
Employer UsageHealthcare facilities, hospitals, clinicsRetail stores, service providers, healthcare

Prn Customer Service Representatives work on an as-needed basis with irregular hours, often in healthcare or customer service settings, requiring similar credentials as part-time roles. Part-Time Customer Service Representatives have scheduled hours but fewer than full-time, working in various industries. Both roles focus on customer interaction but differ mainly in scheduling flexibility and work hours.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

A PRN Customer Service Representative typically does not earn $2,000 a day, as this role usually offers hourly wages or fixed salaries. High-paying jobs that can reach or exceed $2,000 daily often include specialized roles such as surgeons, anesthesiologists, or certain executive positions, which require advanced skills, certifications, and experience. These roles are usually performed in healthcare, finance, or executive management environments and may involve irregular or on-call schedules.

How to make $2000 a week working from home?

A PRN Customer Service Representative can potentially earn $2000 a week by working full-time hours, often 40 or more hours, and earning competitive hourly wages or bonuses. Increasing income may involve developing strong communication skills, utilizing multiple platforms, and seeking roles with higher pay rates or performance incentives.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a PRN Customer Service Representative, and why are they important?

To thrive as a PRN Customer Service Representative, you need excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software, call center systems, and sometimes healthcare-related databases is often required. Patience, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills help you effectively handle diverse customer interactions and shifting schedules. These skills ensure timely, effective support and positive experiences, which are crucial for customer satisfaction and organizational success.

What are the unique challenges of working as a PRN Customer Service Representative compared to a full-time role?

As a PRN (pro re nata or 'as needed') Customer Service Representative, you may face unique challenges such as adjusting quickly to varying shifts, adapting to different team members, and staying up-to-date with company procedures despite an irregular schedule. PRN roles often require strong self-motivation and flexibility, as you may be called in during peak times or to cover absences on short notice. However, this position offers valuable experience and networking opportunities, and it can serve as a stepping stone toward more permanent roles within the organization.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

A Prn Customer Service Representative typically does not earn $10,000 a month without a degree, as this level of income is uncommon in customer service roles. High earnings in customer service usually require extensive experience, specialized skills, or working in high-demand industries, but most roles pay significantly less than that amount monthly without formal higher education or advanced certifications.

Job description

About TrustCare

At TrustCare, we're not just another healthcare provider-we're here to make every patient experience amazing. From simplifying the healthcare process to delivering exceptional, convenient care, we're committed to putting patients first in everything we do.

Our Customer Service Representatives play a vital role in bringing our mission to life. They are often the first point of contact, creating a welcoming, supportive environment where every patient feels valued, cared for, and understood. Whether it's a friendly greeting at the front desk or a helpful conversation over the phone, every interaction matters.

If you're passionate about connecting with people, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and want to be part of a team committed to delivering best-in-class care to every community we serve, we'd love to meet you.

Your Role

As a Customer Service Representative (aka "CSR"), you'll be the friendly face (and voice!) of TrustCare-helping patients feel comfortable, informed, and cared for from the moment they walk through the door. You'll keep things running smoothly at the front desk, ensure accurate records, and provide thoughtful support that sets the tone for an outstanding care experience.

What You'll Do

  • Greet patients and guests with genuine warmth and professionalism.
  • Help patients through the registration process and ensure forms are completed with ease.
  • Keep patient records accurate and up to date, including insurance and billing information.
  • Answer incoming calls and guide patients with helpful, courteous responses.
  • Collect co-pays and outstanding balances in a respectful and timely manner.
  • Maintain a tidy, organized front desk and reception area-creating a space that feels welcoming.
  • Prioritize patient confidentiality and protect privacy at all times.
  • Support the clinical team with general administrative tasks as needed.
  • Send each patient off with a kind farewell and gather any feedback for service improvement.

What We’re Looking For

  • A passion for helping others and making every patient feel seen and supported.
  • Clear, compassionate communication skills—whether in person or over the phone.
  • A calm, solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Attention to detail, with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • A commitment to confidentiality and respect for patient privacy.
  • A positive attitude and a team-first mindset—you’re always ready to lend a hand!

Qualifications to Shine

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in customer service (healthcare preferred, but not required!).
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance processes is a plus.
  • Comfortable working with computers and standard office equipment.

Why TrustCare?

When you join TrustCare, you become part of something bigger than a clinic—you join a team dedicated to making healthcare simpler, more accessible, and truly exceptional. Here, every day is a chance to make a meaningful difference by creating amazing experiences for our patients and supporting each other like family. Together, we’re shaping the future of healthcare in our communities, one interaction at a time.

Position Details & Work Environment

  • Type of Role: PRN, Hourly, Non-Exempt
  • Schedule: Scheduled on an as-needed basis
  • Setting: Clinic-based, primarily front-desk and phone-based, with a focus on hospitality and efficiency
  • Physical Demands: Mostly sedentary with standard office tasks

Other Duties

This job description is intended to highlight the core responsibilities of the role, but we’re a team—and sometimes that means stepping outside the usual to pitch in where needed. Duties may shift as our needs evolve.

Equal Opportunity Employer

At TrustCare, we celebrate diversity and are committed to building an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and valued.
