Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry an in-person Med Clinic case load remaining in compliance with the Ryan Haight Act.
  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments, including client history, mental status examination, and diagnostic evaluations to identify psychiatric disorders.
  • Follows best practice on utilization of INSPECT and prescribes in alignment with best practices.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessments, incorporating evidence-based practices and client preferences. Implement and monitor the effectiveness of treatment plans, adjusting as necessary.
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring for efficacy and side effects. Provide client education on medication use and adherence.
  • Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated care. Provide consultation to staff for ongoing cases. Consult with primary care providers and other specialists as needed.
  • Educate clients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for managing symptoms. Offer support and resources to help clients achieve optimal mental health.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records (EHR) according to facility policies and regulatory standards. Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations.
  • Participate in onsite on-call rotation including weekend and holiday rounds on Inpatient Unit and Crisis Services.
  • Attend medical staff meetings and other meetings as requested.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to maintain licensure and certification. Stay current with advancements in psychiatric-mental health nursing and evidence-based practices.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Master's degree program in Nursing from an accredited institution, specializing in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing.
  • A current, unencumbered RN license in the state of Indiana.
  • Licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Indiana, meeting all state-specific requirements.
  • Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) by a nationally recognized certifying body.
  • Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
  • Typically, a minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience as a registered nurse, with specific experience in psychiatric or mental health and family practice nursing preferred.
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development to maintain certification and stay current with advancements in psychiatric-mental health nursing and healthcare.
  • Possess all applicable licenses for prescribing medications and controlled substances, (DEA, CSR).
  • Has or is willing to obtain Medication Assisted Treatment training/certification.
