A Private Household Chef is a culinary professional who prepares meals exclusively for individuals, families, or households, often in their private residences. Their duties typically include menu planning, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and sometimes catering for special events or dietary needs. Private Household Chefs customize their cooking to suit the preferences, allergies, and nutritional requirements of those they serve, providing a personalized dining experience. They may also be responsible for kitchen organization and maintaining food safety standards. This role is ideal for those who enjoy creating tailored meals and working closely with clients in a home setting.

What are some common challenges faced by private household chefs when adapting to different clients' preferences?

Private household chefs often encounter the challenge of adapting to a wide range of dietary preferences, restrictions, and culinary tastes within a single household. Each client may have unique expectations, such as organic-only ingredients, specific cuisines, or allergen-free meals. Chefs must be flexible, creative, and excellent communicators to consistently satisfy their clients while maintaining high culinary standards. Building strong relationships and proactively adjusting menus ensures a positive experience for both the chef and household members.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a private household chef, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Private Household Chef, you need expertise in culinary techniques, menu planning, and food safety, often supported by culinary school training or significant professional experience. Job description

An adventurous, caring, and on the go Miami family is looking for a long-term, exceptional ROTA nanny to join their team! The family spends approximately 70% of the year in Miami, but there will be an expectation for domestic and international travel throughout the year. The general daily schedule will be 7:00am to 8:00pm (wake up to bedtime), and the nanny will work a 14-day rotational schedule. Flexibility will be needed for night-time coverage and longer-term travel. A 24/7 mindset is required during the shift.

Rotations are 14 days on average, but candidates with flexibility to work 7, 10 or 14+ day rotations as needed would be the best fit for this role.  The travel schedule can be busy and change last-minute, so the family needs a nanny who can "roll with the punches" and be self-sufficient.  The position will be live-in while on duty, with private accommodations provided, and the nanny can go back to their home base while off duty. The family currently has three children one school-age, a toddler, and a baby.

  • Light child related household tasks including children’s laundry and organization
  • Create a safe and stimulating environments for all 3 children
  • Assisting with age-appropriate activities, play, and developmental support
  • Helping with light meal preparation and feeding the children (i.e. reheating, snack prep, etc., as the family employs a full-time chef).
  • Supporting the children with routines including nap time and bedtime
  • Transporting children safely in family provided vehicles to school drop offs and pickups as well as other activities
  • Being flexible and responsive to the family’s needs during shifts
  • Build positive relationships with the children and the entire household team

The duties will consist of caring for their children with a warm and loving demeanor while maintaining clear boundaries and promoting independence. The parents and other family members are actively involved, so you must possess the ability to "read the room" and know when to pivot into a background role when necessary.

  • Friendly, professional, and energetic demeanor
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a larger household team
  • Genuine love for working with children of varying ages
  • Ability to remain calm and responsive in dynamic situations
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Genuine passion for working with children and supporting family life
  • Ability to work within a ROTA schedule with flexibility and professionalism
  • Reliable, punctual, and detail oriented
  • Already local to the Miami area or willing to relocate with relocation assistance provided preferred
  • If not local to Miami, you must be comfortable and responsible to handle a fly in, fly out schedule
  • Ability to maintain discretion and professionalism in a private household
  • CPR and First Aid certification required
  • Being flexible and adaptable to the family’s changing schedule and travel needs
  • Experience working within a structured household system alongside other household staff
  • Strong references from previous nanny placements required
  • Ability to read the room
  • Can-do attitude

  • 5 plus years of professional nanny experience required
  • Previous ROTA experience
  • CPR and First Aid certification required
  • Must local or open to relocation preferably.
  • Fly in, fly out arrangement should be within approximately 3 hours of Miami ideally
  • Strong preference for candidates based in the Midwest, East Coast, or Texas
  • Additional language skills are a strong plus
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must be comfortable with domestic and international travel
  • Must be willing to commit at least 2 years or longer
  • Spanish language skills are a plus but not required. The children are learning Spanish
  • Experience with neurodivergent children is a plus, but not required
  • Must maintain the highest level of professionalism and discretion in a private household setting

You must have a pitch-in attitude and a proactive, positive personality. The family has other staff members on their team who the nannies will work with or around on a regular basis. You must have a team-player mentality, be organized and tidy, have strong communication skills, and a calm demeanor. They strive to be thoughtful and fair employers and hope the nannies will be with them long-term.

  • $130,000 per year
  • $1500 professional development stipend
  • Travel or relocation covered for fly in, fly out arrangements
  • Health insurance stipend
